CO2 poisoning *does* start with similar symptoms, but the filters shouldn't fail on you like that. Does hovering over your character reveal anything about the trend of CO2 in your suit over time?
Or for that matter, is the room you're in flush with CO2, or something like that? Maybe the room is worse than the suit?

edit: I tried buying a new suit and it also doesn't have a charge
I *think* this might just be a UI issue with that top right MegaTooltip (MTT) charge bar. In your screenshot, the orange suit is listed as "Bingham-12 EVA Suit", which is the powered version of that item. If it was off, it would say "Bingham-12 EVA Suit (Off)".
Just to be sure, I tried spawning the suit and a helmet, and popped the battery out. The helmet HUD disappeared when the battery was out, and reappeared when I placed the battery back in. But the charge bar in the MTT remained empty the whole time.
I'm going to log that charge bar UI bug, as that is definitely broken. But if you're getting results different from what I describe above, let me know!
But it could be an issue that you have encountered also. But I never had any problems with my suits so far, whether they were bought, restored or repaired.
Yeah, the charge is an ongoing UI bug. It is not just the MTT, but also when you have the suit in any inventory and hover over it.
I have the same issue occasionally.
If you put your EVA suit on in an atmosphere that's deadly to your char, it needs often too long to get to normal levels again and your char dies.
And sadly that's not just the case for hard vacuum. But also temperature, too much CO2, too little O2 or any combination of the above.
Often it feels like the EVA suit gets treated as the pressure suit, but I am not 100% sure if that'S the case or if it is just very slow.
