The Adventures of Jason and the Argonauts (Match-3)

There are three difficulties to choose from - Easy, Normal and Hard - which will affect how long you have to wait for hints and skips, as well as the level timer. There's no timer for Easy mode, and once you choose your difficulty, you're stuck with it for the rest of the game.

There are no achievements.

The game includes every match-3 type that you can think of: swap-to-match, click-on-a-group, chaining, and later on, you even have conveyor belts moving your pieces around! Although there is occasionally a different objective, your usual goal will be to clear all of the gold and iron "plates" on the screen to proceed.

Obstructions include chains, fog, wood and brick walls, and even various monsters that petrify game pieces. We do have our helpers, though! The Gods have blessed our journey, and we can call forth their powers to aid us when we are in need. Collect the golden pieces that represent each God to fill up their meter, then select the power and use it where you wish. These items do not have to be matched to collect them - just click! This is both very cool and and an irritation, as if you don't click just right, it will disappear before you can swap it, so if you were trying to make a match for something else, you've just lost the ability to do so. :\

Match 5 or more pieces to gain a golden bomb in the playing area. Unlike any other match-3 I've ever played, you can swap this bomb with any other piece on the board, meaning that you can detonate it wherever you wish! Very nice!

Sometimes you will have to collect quills or keys to unlock areas of the playing field, netting you blueprints or items to help you with your journey. There can also be drops of potion, which will help you to defeat monsters.

The points you earn as you play will be converted to gold at the end of each level, which is used - along with the aforementioned blueprints - to build new areas of your city. You will have three styles to choose from on each new building, so you can mix things up to your personal taste.

In addition to the various match-3 scenes, you will also have some puzzles and hidden object scenes to complete. Some examples: Spot-the-differences, assemble-the-picture (drag pieces to where they belong), puzzle rings, and repeat-the-musical-sequence.

You cannot pause the game by hitting the menu button (even though it LOOKS like it's paused, it's not), so be mindful if you're playing it timed! I had the game crash out on me a few times (mostly when I tried to shuffle the game pieces), but it was only mildly annoying, as it only took a few seconds to get back in the game.

The story is based upon - if you had not already guessed - Greek mythology, and the voice they chose to narrate it was beautifully-chosen! Very dramatic and fitting for the tale. :D

This is an interesting match-3 game with plenty of modalities to keep the gameplay fresh, nice graphics and music/sfx, and a very fitting voiceover. Recommended!

If I could give this game simply a neutral rating I would. It is pretty average when it comes to match 3 games, but it suffers from frequent enough crashes that it gets annoying (about once an hour on average I would say), but luckily you will never lose more than one level of progress.

Includes levels with 3 different match 3 types, but it is mostly your classic match 3. On top of that also has some random puzzle levels throw in there (hidden object, memory, mosaics,...).

Works fine with Proton (the crashes are unrelated to it).

This is the first time I play a game like this on Steam, a Match 3 game, and I like it a lot. Games like this are very good for in between other, more intensive games. Just to relax a little bit.
The storyline is nice. You immerge into a world of Greek Gods or heroes and you have to find an artifact. Everything you do during the game, takes you a little bit further in your search for that artifact. The further you go the more Olympus Gods you can ask for a favor.
I didn't finish the game yet, but I am pretty far advanced already. Still I'm not bored by it. Each time I think of stopping playing (stopping the game session), I start another level. Once you start playing it gets to you and makes it a very addictive game.
A big shoutout to the devs who gave me the possibility of playing this wonderful game.

The Adventures of Jason and the Argonauts is a match three game with a mythological story for people to complete by tackling the match three games. It's an older game that has been released to Steam by HH-Games but it is a very good quality one and easily stands up to the newer products.

The Adventures of Jason and the Argonauts strives to stand out from all the other typical match-3 games within the genre by providing a nice variety of game modes, a small build-a-city aspect, and some mini-games, and by retelling an Ancient Greek epic that is as timeless as it is legendary... and I'd say it did a really great job!

Pros:
+ Many different match-3 game modes from chain linking (click and drag to link up all the same pieces) to block-busting (click on groups of 3 or more pieces of the same type to remove them). You'll get to enjoy a new game mode every few normal match-3 levels or so.
+ Challenging but not really unique obstacles. Ultimately, I think the toughest part is clearing gold/silver tiles in harder to reach places.
+ Fun and not too difficult mini-games, such as having you re-piece Jason's ship, jigsaw puzzle-style. A nice respite from matching stuff together.
+ Timed levels available and the time given is more than enough to comfortably complete a level without feeling rushed, but if you still want something more relaxing, there's a "no time limit", easy difficulty level that you can play instead.
+ A beloved, classic story. Would have liked some animation or better graphics but I guess it's still pretty good :)
+ Power-ups - The standard variety, including the explosive ones, the ones that can clear entire rows, and etc. There are two types though - the first type can be earned by making better and longer matches; the second can be earned by filling up the respective power-up meter with special one-click-to-collect (no matching required) tokens.

Meh...
* Not sure what the fog is doing in the playing area. Seems redundant because it didn't do much to obfuscate my view of the pieces underneath it. It does make the map looks a little bit more interesting though.

Cons:
- The build-a-city part of the game seems "extra" - doesn't really tie in with the story. The buildings aren't particularly beautiful-looking and the building interface seems glitchy (Please refer to my gameplay video below)

I've got to admit, for a casual game, The Adventures of Jason and the Argonauts managed to hold my attention by mixing up the game modes a bit, and I'm definitely going to play the game from start to finish. I'd say it's a nice little game to play to wind down after a long day.

Short, easy, crashes.

Lots of fake/paid reviews for this shovelware match-3 mobile game. Drag different ancient Greek themed tiles to form lines of 3 or more until each level's objective tiles have been cleared.

There's no more to it than that. You can play match-3 games in web browsers or on mobile for free, so there's no reason to pay the comical price of $7.50 for this copycat Bejewelled ripoff.

The game is colorful, I really liked it, I will definitely buy one for my mother.

If you want a straightforward, pretty old-school M3 game without too many minigames, the 100 or so levels here might be what you're looking for. There aren't many M3s with voiced-over scenes and an interesting story anymore. Every level is a single room of clearing all the tiles and usually, but not always, gathering enough of a certain item to unlock or otherwise remove a target item. Late in the game, conveyor belts moving playing pieces around and objects which need to be dropped off the bottom appear.

Most of the game is the swap M3 style, but there are several levels interspersed in which you play chain-to-match M3 or "group" M3 where you click on a cluster of 3 or more of the same. The further you go along, the more gods you'll meet in your adventure who will enable more powerups which charge by clicking on the associated powerup piece until the powerup at the bottom is enabled. Some of these powerups are pretty typical (line or column clearers, remove all of one tile type), but there's an X-shaped pattern clearer and a star-shaped pattern clearer. Making M5s or bigger gives you a yellow bomb, which you can trigger with the usual double-clicking, or you can single click it to swap the bomb to another spot on the board, which I really liked. You can't play the game without the powerups, as the levels are designed such that you can't get everything cleared out with matches alone, so most of the "strategy" is clicking on the powerup pieces and using whichever powerups are enabled for that level to get through, making this a "blow your way out of it" game which can be gotten through really quickly. Not a lot of minigames...there were only a couple of HOS and a few random simple puzzles here and there.

Although Steam has had the game for only a few years, I think it's considerably older as the graphics don't look good on large monitors or in fullscreen. The town to build in between levels looks rather ho-hum too, but something great about it is you can sell your completed buildings and reconstruct "upgraded" ones at any time which I haven't seen in other M3s. The silver double-match tiles are tragically too similar in color to the playfield background, often creating situations where you've got that one last silver tile hiding in plain sight somewhere. Also experienced a weird game crash out of the blue which didn't quit the game entirely (I had to tell Steam to stop running the game) but was able to keep going on afterwards to finish the game. At one point about halfway through the story, the voiceover dialog was bugged out to where it was repeating the previous chapter's story. Very short playing time if you're good at M3s as I finished it on the hardest difficulty in five and a half hours, but it's an OK game for buying on sale because the mechanics are different enough to make the game interesting.

Nice game, varied and not too difficult. For a bit of a challenge, I recommend playing on the highest difficulty.
