This or Carrier Deck?
There seems to be another game very similar to this called Carrier Deck.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/580720/Carrier_Deck/

Any thoughts on which is better? CD doesn't seem to have sandbox mode though

Hard to say. It's been a while since I played either of these 2 games. I don't think, they are too similar.

As far as I remember, Carrier Deck focuses more (or almost only) on one mechanic, managing your deck. As far as I remember, you get missions that you need provide planes for and that's it, more or less.

In Aircraft Carrier Survival, managing your deck is also an important part of the game but much smaller compared to other things. In Aircraft Carrier Survival, you need to move your fleet over the map, you need to choose your escort, use their abilities, upgrade your ships, planes and crew, choose the "plane loadout" (how many planes of what type), 'manage' the crew, plan and create the missions and then manage your deck to fullfil the missions.

I personally prefer Aircraft Carrier Survival (about 100 hours) over Carrier Deck (about 20 hours) but as stated in this other thread Aircraft Carrier Survival is in a bad state and it will probably never get fixed.

If Aircraft Carrier Survival is on sale for 5 bucks, you're more interested in World War 2 era than in the modern era and prefer a more complex game, I'd suggest buying Aircraft Carrier Survival.

Carrier deck is a decent game with time management kinda, its a lot fun and i can recommend it.
but it is sure very different to this one. Both can give some fun, buy when its on discount. This one is sadly kinda without new updates. but i at least had my fun out of it :)

Carrier deck is hands down the better of the two. ACS is way more ambitious but unfortunately falls way short and is generally shovelware.

I happen to play both. Carrier Deck is a nice and busy 'airport' management game, while this is more laid back, slow and micromanaging based game. I personally would pick Carrier Deck if I had to make a choice between the two. But ultimately both are fine. Tho nothing breathtaking.

I enjoy it. I tend to play this instead of solitaire sometimes (no ads, yay?!?) Carrier Survival is fun to me too, I only just got it not long ago. Both games to me are worth it if you get them on the cheap.

I have both, Carrier deck is fast paced tactical similar in that you have to manage timing, but more arcade style - Carrier survival has alot more depth and progression, and a deeper campaign, albeit a bit buggy sometimes, feels like more of a long term campaign with both tactical and strategy.

Man, I'm having a helluva time on that Aleutian Island campaign mission. Think I need more things that'll put CAP in the air so I can friendly CAP spam easier.
