Where is the Choboko?

The dude says the plains north of Aogai, but there aren't any plains in that direction. I also looked at the guides for Evoland 1, and it said that the choboko can appear in any forest, with certain ones being more likely. Well, I tried dozens of fights in multiple forests, and nothing! This is getting frustrating. And I know I'm far enough along because I have Babamut.

I suggest the one between Crystal Cave and Hidden Meadow

I'm having the same problem. I don't know if they bugged it up with any updates or what. You can run that little spot outside the hidden meadow in the woods and you won't get them even after hundreds of encounters. RNG with encounters is okay to an extent. But if you have it set too low you could potentially wind up with a possibility where you might never get it to spawn in a playthrough. I've played really old school games. Actually the really oldschool games were more predictable because you had spawns that only appeared in certain locations. However, they consistently appeared in those spawn areas. The way people are talking in the walkthroughs it should be rare but not rare to the point you're spending hours and not getting the Choboko spawn.

I can confirm that choboko spawns on the way to crystal caves. I went there the second time to collect a missing star. Not sure if i'm just lucky or something but this is my third time playing evoland 1 (first time on legendary edition) and i dont need to grind that long for it to spawn. Heck, the 50k gil achievement takes even longer than this.

Is it possible that there is only one Choboko in the game? I fought only one, had the meat prepared, and stupidly used it in the Zephyros fight. Only after that you'll get the note that you have to give it to the merchant. Is my chance gone now?

I've tested something and his spot is exactly above the hiden forest, near the other forest and next to the water is a smal area and everytime i found him was there, I've killed him a total of 4 times now.

Try the prairie meadow if it doesn't work walk to papunika,to me it spawned between the mountains

If it's any help, he was in the small area in between the 2 forests above the meadow for me. Lost a bunch of time running in the forest, only to have him on the 1st encounter outside it...
