Beat saber fan boys are the worst
I'm tired of seeing every new VR music rhythm game and some idiot giving it a negative review because it's not Beat Saber. Beat saber did not invent music rhythm in VR. Beat saber is an awesome game. But they weren't original. There was this game called Beat Ninja VR way before Beat Saber if you want to look it up. There were also plenty of other music rhythm games in VR way before Beat Saber came into the mix.

Yes, they are the gold standard. But stop comparing everything to Beat Ninja and calling it a Beat Ninja ripoff. This is a music rhythm game. Harmonix has been doing them for many many years.

And also, not everyone wants to get sweaty on their VR headset. So this game is very different than Beat Saber. Saying it's a ripoff is just lazy.

Both games can coexist and be successful.....It's ok to like and play both of them. Hell, the better Audica does, the more pressure gets put on to Beat Saber to be better and vice versa. It's a win win for fans of either game.

beat saber is for casual gamers. I need to know how it compares to Airtone.

I would say on the hardest difficulty, it does have the same kind of mental challenge that Airtone has. You know that OSU type gameplay where you really have to focus on what your'e doing.

I agree, beat saberers are entitled. I mean sure we dont have volume settings or graphics settings but we get laser guns. The fact you need to aim really balloons the skill level which frankly beat saber would never be able to match.

Thanks , finally picked this game up and you're right it feels like a proper rhythm game.
Something is wrong with beat Saber. For me hitting the notes in that game is no more satisfying than missing.
The mental challenge and satisfaction when you're hitting in time. That's what I was looking for.

Beat Saber rocks...so does Audioshield. Gotta buy this one soon and give it a go :)

I love beat saber, but I think that lack of satisfaction in beat saber you mention is the very thing some people seem to complain about in this game. Loss of full audio when you miss. Personally, I love that it happens in Audica because it makes me feel like my performance affects the music more. Whereas in Beat saber, the only way my actions influence the song is the little sound effects from breaking the blocks.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

yeah also the slashing sound in Beat Saber doesn't sound like part of the music so when you miss it doesn't really sound like you "missed a note".

As someone who has been loving Beat Saber (and formerly loved Audiosurf before they got rid of youtube integration), I agree. Every game dev should be able to try their hand as long as they are bringing something SPECIAL to the table. The ONLY thing to be worried about is a flood and following crash of the rhythm game market ala Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

Rhythm games are a nice gateway into the VR space. You aren't strapping someone brand new to VR in to play Windlands and watching them hurl all over. These are generally easy enough concepts that even a general gaming novice can grasp how to get through a song or set on an easy difficulty.

This seems like a cool game, and I plan to be supportive of it with my purchase when I am able to.
