Let's explain a few things. :)
Thief Simulator VR is not officially made for Oculus Quest. The game was developed when this headset was not yet popular. Information about the headsets the game runs on is available on Steam. The problem with this headset is that it can behave differently for each player. Depending on whether you are using Virtual Desktop, Oculus Link, or some other ways to use Oculus Quest on PC - the result will not always be the same. We try to fix possible problems with using the Oculus Quest like this with each update, but there are so many hardware configurations that we are not able to fix everything.
The good news is there is a Thief Simulator in development for Oculus Quest. I'm talking about a full native version - no cables. Thief Simulator VR Quest is developed by 3R Games (not our production). You can read more about this version of the game here: https://3r.games/games/
That should be irrelevant. If you are playing on the Quest via Link or Air Link, then as far as Steam is concerned it's just a regular Oculus device, which all behave identical in the Oculus SDK.
Virtual Desktop might be different since information is passed through third party software, but I don't see why anyone would still use that now over the completely free and superior Air Link.
A lot of people play this way. Unfortunately, not everything always works as it should.
The only difference on the controller is the tracking ring is on top now. Otherwise they have all the same inputs.
Btw dear Developers , i am playing on quest 2 also, and a friend of mine too, but his GFX card is just a RTX 2060 and i am running on a 3080, the differences are significant.
his game crashes every second zone switch, mine does not.
Instead I leave the PC client app running on that PC. When I want to connect I run VD on Quest and it connects automatically (a slightly more involved process just the first time). It connects quickly, gives me a superior onscreen keyboard, and every game I play on it is smooth as butter.
If your friend would send us log files located at "X:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Game Boom VR\Thief Simulator VR" after the crash, it would be great. Email: kacper@gameboomvr.com
