Frustrating experience on Oculus Quest 2
Started tutorial, dropped crowbar, cannot pick up.... Tried again, made it to first mission, dropped crowbar, cannot pickup, can bump around with hands, but cannot pickup... FRUSTRATION.

0/5 might refund.

I ended up refunding, as you can see I never got any help here, or anywhere else for that matter with the title, so I bought a different game.
Well it's not officially supported for quest so i guess that's to be expected

Let's explain a few things. :)

Thief Simulator VR is not officially made for Oculus Quest. The game was developed when this headset was not yet popular. Information about the headsets the game runs on is available on Steam. The problem with this headset is that it can behave differently for each player. Depending on whether you are using Virtual Desktop, Oculus Link, or some other ways to use Oculus Quest on PC - the result will not always be the same. We try to fix possible problems with using the Oculus Quest like this with each update, but there are so many hardware configurations that we are not able to fix everything.

The good news is there is a Thief Simulator in development for Oculus Quest. I'm talking about a full native version - no cables. Thief Simulator VR Quest is developed by 3R Games (not our production). You can read more about this version of the game here: https://3r.games/games/

That should be irrelevant. If you are playing on the Quest via Link or Air Link, then as far as Steam is concerned it's just a regular Oculus device, which all behave identical in the Oculus SDK.

Virtual Desktop might be different since information is passed through third party software, but I don't see why anyone would still use that now over the completely free and superior Air Link.

As far as i know there is a diffrence in the controllers from quest and rift so that might be what steam can't figure out

A lot of people play this way. Unfortunately, not everything always works as it should.

Hmm well I have played this without any problems on the Quest 2 using Air Link.

The only difference on the controller is the tracking ring is on top now. Otherwise they have all the same inputs.

im using the first quest and i never had that problem

Every other Oculus-compatible game I have seems to run just ducky in Steam VR using Airlink. I'm dumbfounded that one of the devs made such an inane comment here. I want to hope that it was just what their boss told them to say...

well it does make a difference how your pc is setup and how you use the game. if you try to start it from the oculus VR then it does not work very good, use steam vr instead and you will see its working better,

Btw dear Developers , i am playing on quest 2 also, and a friend of mine too, but his GFX card is just a RTX 2060 and i am running on a 3080, the differences are significant.
his game crashes every second zone switch, mine does not.

Virtual Desktop is WAY BETTER than Airlink. For one I don't have to run downstairs to get on the PC the games run on to type in a code to connect. I have to do this every single time I use it.

Instead I leave the PC client app running on that PC. When I want to connect I run VD on Quest and it connects automatically (a slightly more involved process just the first time). It connects quickly, gives me a superior onscreen keyboard, and every game I play on it is smooth as butter.

If your friend would send us log files located at "X:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Game Boom VR\Thief Simulator VR" after the crash, it would be great. Email: kacper@gameboomvr.com

I refunded this game like a year ago and haven't looked back. Suggest folks start their own topic as needed. Peace out
