Can't steal first car for story mission

I'm trying to steal a car (the green truck) from house 104 for the story mission and when I enter a car i'm prompted with the message "plug wires into holes" but nothing pops up.

Looking at videos for how it is supposed to happen, the holes pop up and you are given a wire however when I enter the car nothing pops up for me to interact with and I just sit there

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I've noticed this too, what I do when stealing a car in this game is I just move my hands around the drivers side of the car and spam the interaction button, think it's something towards the pedals, eventually it works. Hope this helps!

There is a cables compartment under the steering wheel. It will highlight when you put your hand there. After clicking - the cables will appear in front of you. :)
