C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2\Redist
Click on vcredist_x86 and reinstall DirectX.
This didn't work, reinstalling direct x didn't work, and reinstalling the game didn't work - hmm
Vcredist dont install Directx, but windows Visual C++ redistributable x86 and x64 :
In the Redist folder, there is another folder called DirectX, in there you find a file - DXSETUP.exe
Run that file before VCredist.exe. You have to restart after both install.
If get prompt for Uninstall - choose it and restart - then run it again.
If you get prompt for Repair - choose it and restart.
This happens somthimes after windows update....windows corrupt old windows files...
Steamworks Shared, in the same folder as the games are saved:
If you have steam on C.
C:/Program Files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/steamworks shared/commonrdist/ -
In there you find the files used by most of your games., but NOT vcredist 2008 needed for MW2.
For MW2 you need Vcredist 2008 x86 and x64. Check in (win10) installed apps if you have those files installed: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -x86 and x64.
I have 2 versions of x86 2008 vcredist and 1 of x64 vcredist.
You have to go to Microsoft to DL and install Vcredist 2008.
