Mouse not working in game - windows cursor

When I start up the game it doesnt switch to the ingame mouse cursor, which is gray and larger. It just keeps the windows mouse cursor and I cant click on anything. I have to use the arrow keys to navigate menus and it also wont let me choose any game modes. I uninstalled both the single player and multiplayer (through steam, I deleted local files) and then verified the game cache again, and it still is not back to normal. I was able to play just fine 2 days ago. Any solutions?

i dont know how many times ive posted this for all the people complaining about how the game doesnt start

go and edit your config_mp.cfg file and change seta r_fullscreen "1" to seta r_fullscreen "0"

you game will start and you can fix whatever is going on in windows

The game does start, everything works but the ingame cursor, will this fix that?

Okay now it opens in a window and has no sound and the ingame gray cursor is there, but I cant move it either. Any real solutions?

can you move the keys like press enter and use up and down? do you know how to see what your windows screen resolution is, try using the keyboard to change the ingame resolution to that. its just down on the down arrow to options enter and then over to resolution. do the keys even work? make sure you dont have on fraps, or some other overlay like raptr or whatever the nvidia thing is. also make sure you dont have the ms windows xbox streaming thing running... in other words turn off all streaming/recording applications and services

In the windowed mode I'm now in, I cannot move with the arrows or the mouse cursor. It's just stuck at the main menu for multiplayer. My resolution is already set to 1920x1080. I dont have fraps or raptr or xbox any streaming or recording things running.

In the fullscreen mode I was in before, the mouse wouldnt work but I could use the arrow keys and enter to navigate menus.

Also, it wont even let me select the program itself. The windowed mode takes up most of my screen, but I cant drag it and make it bigger, my mouse just disappears behind it.

just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles
c:\program files x86\steam\steamapps\common\callofdutymodernwarefare2\redist\

has a couple of things in them... please reinstall all of them

then if that doesnt work... cut and copy (for a backup)

all the files out of c:\program files x86\steam\userdata\[userid]\10190
and all teh files in teh players folder

delete them out of those folders now and then try to start the game

Okay cool. In the \redist\ folder theres a file:

vcredist_x86.exe

I just installed that and now it still opens in a window. After a short delay, it allows me to move the mouse around inside, as well as reposition the window.

Now I will try to make it fullscreen again in the config_mp.cfg

Okay so after changing it back to fullscreen in config_mp.cfg, it went back to its old way of the windows cursor appearing and not the ingame gray one. Menus were only able to be navigated by arrow keys again.

I'm going to try putting it in fullscreen first, then installing vcredist_x86.exe

At the very very first screen, and this works both ways and is also a really old coder shortcut to switch from full screen to windowed and is seen in a shut ton of apps
