Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) - Multiplayer

MW2 Multiplayer not working
I press "Play" and it makes my screen go super close up and it stays like that as it attempts to load. This doesnt happen with MW2/Campaign and Spec ops. Does anyone else encounter this problem? Can anyone fix it?

They probably shut down the serves just to spite pc gamers due to the re-release of the single player.

I wouldnt be surprised if the game no longer works on 360 or PS3 either (MP was free on PS3 for those who dont remember/know and mroe active than PC player base).

Edit: Seems im right to an extent. Theyve intentionally broken the games All CODS on the last gen consoles:

New accounts made or old accounts renamed after Jan of 2018 no longer save MP progress.

New PSN accounts won't level up [not fixable]

Since the question comes up a lot, I've thought about writing a post to make things clear.
As per title, new PSN accounts (to be precise accounts created after December 2018) cannot level up. That means every time you restart playing MP after a session you will be brought back to level 1. There's no fix for this issue. You need an old account (created before Dec 2018) if you want to level up.

New accounts created either on Xbox or PC are unaffected therefore the issue regards only the PS3.

EDIT 1:Another recurrent question regards player count stuck on 0: it's been broken for years, please ignore it.

EDIT 2: if you change your PSN ID, your new name will be treated as a new account so you will lose all your progress and you won't be able to level up due to the bug mentioned above.
