What I don't understand is why people stay in the lobby when it's modded. It just encourages the pathetic little kids that mod to keep modding. There doesn't seem to be any repercussions for modding, but then, this is an old game.
I still see VAC banned players playing without any problem, it is useless to report them, devs don't care as they have moved on to the latest travesty that comes out under the COD name, which seems to not be doing as well as the older titles did.
It has become a joke.
That's because not everyone enjoys playing with literal biotrash (tubers).
Every year, the technologies upgrade to the new level so fast, that it is impossible to keep up with them, and to ban those softwares... It is just a waste of time.
VAC banned players tend to not use Steam, they use a program, which has the same functions as MW2 on Steam, with a little bit more options.
MW2SA, alias kicktool is easily being abused, because people already gave up on reporting those people via ''recording the gameplay'' (where they get kicked without any reason(s)).
Players tend to block your IP address, so you won't have a chance to connect to their lobbies, and they won't have a chance to connect to your lobbies in the future.
They also tend to DDS you, so your files will be changed, and Steam, because VAC is automathic, may possibly accuse you of a try to change your game files (modding), even though you are just a victim, who doesn't even know about that.
When I join into a modded lobby, I don't leave immedinately. I wait, until the game automatically kicks me, because I was pretending to be AFK.
What I do is use Resource Monitor to find the host's IP address when I join one of those lobbies. Then I add that IP to my ban list in Windows Firewall, and I'll never connect to them ever again. I have like 40 IPs collected in there, and now most of the time I queue, I get either a legitimate game or I start a new one that fills up super quickly. People just don't often start legitimate lobbies because the system is all "OH SNAP THIS ONE SAYS YOU'RE RIGHT NEXT DOOR" and then you're in a game with 30 other reluctant players who can't join anything else. Makes it easy to populate a lobby when you host.
That and there's a tool you can use when you're hosting that lets you ban people who are blatantly wall hacking or doing other blatant cheating. It all works pretty well together.
Agreed, I do the same, me and my friends block almost every modder lobby. There are a few exceptions, not all players abuse so these can be tolerated for us. Shame to see so many people saying they can't find games yet I can quit one lobby and not get put back in the same lobby many times.
All you need is a good host and some helpful friends and you'll get your game back to normal. Since learning this the game has been great ;)
What country are you people gaming from?
Most of what you said makes little sense are you speaking from experience?
I see nothing optimistic about this post..
Can you offer advice to the OP on what he can do to get a better game experience?
That's true. There is nothin' optimistic, when it comes to modded lobbies, at least for me - If I would be positive, and not negative, I wouldn't speak by my own opinion(s), but by opinions I don't fully agree with.
As you've stated, adding IP's to the Firewall is the first, or one of the first steps, which could be taken.
The next advice, however it isn't as effective, it is possible to stay AFK in the modded lobby, until it automatically kicks you from the game, so you don't have to add one lost match into your statistics.
What also sometimes works is, that after joining and leaving the modded lobby, you can play different game mode for some time, and you may possibly join to the not-modded lobby next time.
So, with that, I end...
Yes, over-exaggerations don't help
The issues can be overcome, instead of dwelling on them, if you encouraged that then more players would be better off
