Coloured names = hackers?

if players in the lobby has coloured names does tha mean they are hacking? if so like 30% of the playerbase are hackers and is there any way of getting around meeting them?

Friends of mine have been VAC banned beacuse they have been in COD lobbys with hackers

I litterly started up MW2 for the first time today. I never saw different colours on xbox. please can you tell me if you can change to colours or if they are hacking?

If you put something like ^3(YourNameHere) it will make your name that color. If you put another ^(number) somewhere in your name you can make it muticolored.

- ^0 = Black
- ^1 = Red
- ^2 = Green
- ^3 = Yellow
- ^4 = Blue
- ^5 = Cyan
- ^6 = Pink
- ^7 = White *This color will appear as default if you are only looking at the name in a lobby
- ^8 = Black

^0 til ^9 I think, each number has it's own numeric code.
Like ^4H^3a^0cc^5e^6r

Fraid it's not hacking but a built in thing on the pc.. But hackers do tend to use it alot..

I have thousands of hours on steam. I played on 360 like 4 years ago occasionally. Now I realised MW2 is available on steam.

they can do that by adding ^x (x=number) it changes the color in there name for example ^1Major ^1Sellout! would make my name red and you can do this in the chat too.

Its not hacks its just a game mechanic

They are not hacking they are just making their names look cool with color nothing more. This has been going on for years back in the day.
