First try to fix errors in steam games - Verify integrety for locale files in steam library:
Go to library - right click game - properties/settings- locale files tab - choose verify integrety....

Next is to delete config_mp.cfg in players folder. That will set the game back to default.

-Challenge == Packet
-No or bad Challenge == Dropped Packet
-Packet sent between client (you) & Server to establish a connection
-This is sent via UDP protocol (unlike TCP it's not loss tolerating) so you can drop packets as in they don't reach the server

So in summary it's a network issue, the connection between you and the server is dropping packets so either your connection is bad or the hosts is or both. Being from the AU I imagine it's your connection in the fact that the server you are connecting to is likely very far away

Damn, thanks man, i will see if i can somehow fix that, it should be my internet screwing up because its an aussie dedicated server that usually has people on it, however, every other game has no issues.

restart your modem and see if it works when your internet comes back up. Also Im wondering if Steam knows where the game is. Did you install it to a different drive?

Or if the game starts and you get this error, try setting up the Ip you are using in a dmz. Its in the router settings. you can also setup port forwarding.. if you can get in game, what is your NAT type. this will determine how well you can matchmake

i have restarted and same thing happens, its installed on the same drive as steam and my nat type is open :/

run speedtest.net and see what speed results you get
This means that you have not provided the correct challenge hash to connect to the host. Usually this occurs when a modded or hacked lobby is trying to prevent you from joining.

Sorry, you are going to have to figure why you keep connecting to the same host.

I'm having this issue right now, I know this is late, but, this does not work, as the file does not exist anymore

Makes sense since you just revived a 5 year old discussion, which I'd be willing to bet in 5 years you are having a totally different issue than here. start your own post instead of necroing a old post with a different issue

does anyone know what causes is it to do that error?
