Can you play online co-op?
It says it has "multiplayer" features on the steam page. But I couldn't find any info online.

I would imagine it has local co-op.

No. There is no online play.

There is a way to play it online, but you have to use a third party source.

No! NO YOU CAN'T!!!! And its the DUMBEST thing they can do for this collection!!!

LITERALLY the DUMBEST THING they can do!!!

Just because Castlevania Collection doesn't have online multiplayer DOESN'T mean CONTRA (OF ALL FUGGIN KONAMI FRANCHISES) COLLECTION shouldn't have it!!!!

Not having an online co-op feature is such a let down.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥,i love contra + 20 bucks and no online.
Cmon...

Its not really a problem, as its near impossible to play co-op with any other method except everyone being in the same location.

Srry, but it says Multi-Player, but it also says Local Co-Op, or Local Multi-Player...

There is no Online Play, function...

Again, this i'm guessing is just Contra Games Collection on STEAM & PC,
not a Re-Release, HD Remake, or anything, it's just old Games made for
PC use... Nothing more...

I think they are just for Notalgia Sake... I don't think they planned on
Updating the Games for extra Bonus Features, & such, ~_~

The nice thing is that we also got STEAM Bonus Content not part of Game,
but still related... =D

Just sad, no Soundtrack included, :(

but that defeats the purpose of ever putting it on steam in the first place. This isnt the arcade era we are living in. Welcome to the modern online gaming era where we are now starting to look at streaming games as a very real and very possible solution.

Putting in online play for a Co-op focused arcade-like collection like Contra should have been their first priority. Otherwise, whats the point? I have an NES mini. I have an SNES mini. I have emulators. Online functionality would have been able to set this collection apart from those other console options.

Emulaters, actual console hardware, and even re-release systems all use local co-op. Is the NES and SNES mini actually capable of online co-op?

Does that actually work? I was hoping to play Contra games over retroarch with people here. But if that works, I'll buy this collection on steam if someone from europe promises to play something from Contra Collection with netplay over parsec with me?
