Super Castlevania IV Poorly Emulated?
Is having issues with SCIV common in this collection?

So far I've had no problems with any of the NES or GB options but SCIV is a clunker. There's a good bit of slow down, not enough to make it unplayable but enough to be annoying and there are a few parts where it just chugs (oddly enough the mode 7 areas are some of the best running lol, go figure). And the music sounds like someone turned it into a physical object and threw it into a wood chipper, hope you enjoy these classic tunes sounding crunchy af and skipping.

Obviously I recognize SCIV is more hardware intensive than the other games but while my PC isn't brand spanking new it's no slouch and can run most modern games at decent settings. Similarly this isn't my first rodeo with emulation of the completely and utterly legal variety and I've run far more intensive and later generation consoles with little issue.

So is it just a known issue that this game has problems in the collection or is my computer giving me a hard time for no reason? Is there even anything that can be done for it using community tools or am I basically SOL?

Thanks!

Its a direct version of the SNES game.

It is not a port. So it will keep all the slowdown the original also had.

I've played the original many times on original hardware and on absolutely legal other methods. I know there's SOME slowdown in the original during certain segments but not like this. We're talking slow motion and the music sounds like someone is playing it at .25x on YT. There is 100% slowdown that's not in the original game, it also exists to some extent in Belmonts Revenge though the rest are ok, but SCIV is waaaaay worse than Belmonts Revenge, borders on unplayable in portions.

Oh, yeah then that is an issue. It shouldnt be affecting the music and slowing down that much.

Although the collection has always worked fine for me (with the usual amount of slowdown), so its some setting on your PC affecting it.

I wonder if it's an audio issue causing slowdown. Maybe a resampling glitch.
