Castlevania 2 can't use holy water?

I try pressing up and attack but it just whips

Sounds dumb to ask but... Do you have it selected in the menu?

It is dumber tu ask, but... How do you select secondary weapons on the menu? i cant bring it up, i dont know how?

Go to the status menu where it shows your hearts, exp, and items. Press up to select items in the top row and press down to select items from the bottom row. Use left and right to put the cursor over the item you want to select and exit the menu. Then press and hold up and press B to use your sub weapons.
