Konami should have released a Shmup collection instead
Most of the games in this collection are Shmups, so instead, why just not release a Shmup collection instead? Include all the games currently present + Parodius, Xexex, Gradius III, Salamander 2, Gradius IV and Space Manbow.

what do you mean? these are arcade games, so the title is correct
Kaibun Apr 20, 2019 @ 6:10pm
Beats me why they didn't. Not only Haunted Castle is a terrible game, it feels extremely out of place here. I'd gladly trade it for something better like Xexex or some Parodius games.

What I'm saying is that yes they are Arcade games, but they're mostly Shmups. They should've made a separate collection since old Konami games are very well known for Shmups.

Keep Haunted Castle, put Amidar, Frogger, Pooyan, Circus Charlie, Rush 'N Attack, Jackal, Sunset Riders and Bucky 'O Hare. This is how the Arcade collection should've been like.

Eh, even if we got Xexex, we would've been stuck with the inferior International version and no way to play the original Japanese version anyway.

Call it "Gradius and friends" ; - )

( Speaking of which: How about a modern sequel to follow the acclaimed Gradius V?? it's truly a Treasure to play.)

btw - R Type has a sequel announced: Final 2! which was after the Dimensions collection

Wow, wasn't aware of that. Neat!
Hope they can match the quality of Delta.

Yeah, shoot'em ups deserves more recognition!

I really wanted to see Salamanders 2, Gradius Gaiden and Gradius III & IV in it...

Also more Parodius games...

And finally Gradius Rebirth...

Well 5.3 hours in Raiden V wich is a bad Steam shmup game compared to those you dont know of.
I can see that you suffer a great problem both shmupping and wisely... and then you ask fro a KONAMI Shmup Collection?
HAHA... noone in here of you have any clue to shmup games from Steam I can tell 99,9%... :D and then someone comes with a R-Type 2 on Steam hahaha...
I can easily see many is unaware their Shmup gaming in here :D
Come back when u reach 200 hours in a shmup game we can talk again I will maybe nice enough to tell you more... :D

The hell are you saying? I'm aware that the genre is very niche and most of them are indie games (there are many great hidden gem on Steam)

The genre deserves some kind of revival (especially since Gradius was one of the most important serie for Konami in the 80-90's)

Im a real shmupper who realized and can see miles away that any Arcade Classic is a WASTEOFTIMEAND MONEYS...

R-type 1&2 is already on Steam (Dimmension Ex). If you talk about Final 2 then there's still a possibility to see a PC release

Also please define "real shmupper"

Wait what?? I thought Irem quit making games???

Guy who worked in Irem for a long time created his own company Granzella. He made Disaster Report 4 and City Shrouded in Darkness, and now announced R-Type Final2

offtop: wait, are you THE VJFranzK? :lunar2019shockedpig: For real? I still remember your perfomance with JR Hexatone IDM drum machine (something which was never replicated neither in hardware or software since then, unlike something like noise.io which later had better successors like TC-11/TC-Data in post-audiobus era)
VJFranzK Apr 22, 2019 @ 7:33am
Yes, I've been interested lately in VR apps for music and art purposes. Got a Deluge hardware sequencer, getting that ready for shows...

I do also like classic gaming ; - ) the titles with interesting play action.

Interesting! I also was curious about what people can do with Teenage Engineering's OP-Z (though i heard you can use any midi out thing for that if reprogram) that is synced with Unity3D engine so you can assign anything from your sequencing to realtime changes in 3d/2d graphics during performance
