What order to play the CoD games?
Hey, I'm interested in playing world war/cold war games and I found out that a few of the cod games had that theme. Is there a specific order I should play them in? According to release date..?

It's not by release date. There are three different game studios that work under Activision's Call of Duty franchise. Each studio has their own titles and they alternate per year. Treyarch makes the black ops series and only the first one is set in a cold war era while the rest (Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3) are in the future. World at War is Treyarch's stand alone title based on WW2 in the pacific and europe regions where you'll meet a character that appears in Black Ops 1. Infinity Ward makes the Modern Warfare games that start from COD4 to MW2 and then MW3. They also made Call of Duty Ghosts, which I believe is set apart from the Modern Warfare titles. Lastly, the third game studio is fairly new. They did help with other games in the past though. Their latest title is Advanced Warfare, which has Kevin Spacey in it. A lot of the Call of Dutys have great campaigns. You won't be dissapointed with either purchase but I personally recommend getting the Black Ops games before anything else.

Basically each studio has different games with differing storylines.

Ah, very good explanation. I'm going to play the first three, World at War & finally Black Ops 1. Not sure about the mode modern games, not that into those but perhaps.

Come on man if you are new to the COD series you have to play the orignal COD with the United Offenisve expansion. Now that was the real authentic COD stuff.
Back in my day! lol

I'm playing CoD 1, 2, United Offensive, 3, World at War and Black ops 1.
Started off with CoD 1 and 2, stopped midway through 2 or finished it.. dunno and now I'm almost done with World at War. The earlier ones were pretty darn good but World at War's my favourite thus far.
