Time Trial Snowmobile Veteran

I am trying to complete this and I cannot seem to no matter what I do. I can get close, but not finish it. I do not know if it is slightly different or harder on PC as opposed to Xbox, where I could ace that mission, or if it is because I am not used to PC controls, etc. However, no matter what, something random, usually not having to do with my skill or lack thereof, (sometimes its me, though) will mess me up, like I get quick start and am just going so fast I cannot make the turns, or I go off a jump and go so high that I miss a set of flags, go off a jump and land wrong etc. Is there a real specific route to take, or when to speed up, slow down, etc? Completed this on veteran on Xbox no issue as I said and the other snowmobile mission on PC without trouble as well.

I finally got it, but I don't recall winning at all. I think I was so frustrated from loosing that I just was in a daze and won without significance
