Is MW2 worth investing into?

Hey guys. I know I'm relatively new into the CoD franchise -- and before you scream n00b at me, I just want to clarify that I've played part of Black Ops and returned back to MW2 after a recommendation from an old friend -- but I'd just like to know: Is MW2 worth purchasing? For context, I'm presently playing this game via Steam Share because, as a uni student, I can't immediately afford the game. I'm probably going to be garbage in Multiplayer because I haven't been playing nearly as long, but I'm just curious.

tl;dr: Semi-new member to the CoD community is broke af and wants to know -- should I maintain my Steam Share or actually buy the game?

I think it has a really nice campaign and if you really wanna save money, just a tip, you could try using g2a, the games are much cheaper there, including mw2

I have a hard time recommending it.

Like any CoD, MW2 is infested with bs, but to another level. It's an amazing game in the right matches, and also a nightmare in the wrong matches.
Apart from that, developers have removed a map from multiplayer and forgot to put it back on PC. It's been a few years already and while some may say it's a minor point, the map was popular and still was a significant chunk of multiplayer.
it's an aweful port preformance-wise, though it should run fine on modern machines. Lacks basic multiplayer features such as server browser and such, which existed in CoD4.

But the main issue I have with recommending it are the lack of players. You can stll find a match often, however certain game modes such as Ground War, Demolition, etc. rarely have a match. You are also bound to be put back into the same lobby.

yeah because the site is questionable at best and devs don't see money any way from this source.

I'll be honest with you here, don't buy it, this cod is not nice for new players because is infested with hackers, campers and people abusing the game in many ways plus no dedicated servers, if you want to get into cod buy the new new ones, like bo3, ww2, even bo2, but this one isn't worth it, not because the game is bad not at all but because of the community, or you can always take the "free" path, dedicated servers, better anti-cheat, admins monitoring their servers, but ofc as many hackers and abusers as the steam version, if you really wanna play this game i recommend that option to you, the magical words are "i.w.4.x" good luck.

It's okay for matchmaking if you're into tdm,ffa,domination, anything other than it is empty

Don't buy this. Official steam game is almost dead. Hackers on every server, always.
After my purchase I discovered about the "alternative" MW2 client / server, which offers more content, dedicated servers, server browser, mods, and anti-cheat. The only way to enjoy the game, really. That's why my "official" play time is low.

if u want i can give u tips how to install browser for server list in mw2 but original mw2 dont have problem with searching matches ;]

You invest in it. The campaign is good and multiplayer is fun (except some noisy scums). The spec ops also worth playing.
