Stuttering in Singleplayer, help!
Hi! I recently bought this game to replay the singleplayer after finishing the CoD 4 singleplayer but it seems I am experiencing some kind of stuttering issue that seems to happen quite randomly. I noticed it a lot on the snow mobile mission in the beginning of the game, it was kind of like it was loading the terrain in or something.

I had zero issues with this on CoD 4 and it ran flawlessly, it had some stuttering but I fixed that by changing the audio to "Stereo".

I tried out the multiplayer for a couple of matches and it seems I am not getting any stuttering there.

I am running the CoD SCZ FoV Changer and am running 90FOV and using an FOV Scale of 1,350 if it matters but I tried running without it and it still stuttered randomly.

When the stuttering is not happening my FPS is hovering between 150 - 300FPS. (Checked with FRAPS).

Things I have tried -

  • Changing the audio to "Stereo"
  • Lowering advanced graphical options from "Extra" to "High".
  • Setting the power setting in the Nvidia Control Panel to "Prefer Maximum Performance".
  • Setting the AA option to "None".
  • Turning "Sync All Frames" Off and On.

    PC Specs -

GPU: EVGA GTX 1050Ti (Latest Nvidia Drivers)
    CPU: Intel i7-6700K (Stock)
    CPU-Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz
    Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero
HDD: 2TB Seagate Internal Harddrive 7200RPM (This is where the game is installed)
    SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD SATA3 540Mb/s
    PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit

    Mouse: Zowie ZA12 @ 1000Hz Polling Rate
Monitor: BenQ XL2720Z 144Hz (The game is set to 144Hz).

If there is any other info you would like me to provide I would be happy to provide it if you feel it will help you help me diagnose the issue.

I am thankful for any tips on how to fix this problem!

Hello. There is actually a better way to check FPS, without lowering it. Open Steam overlay, go to settings, in-game, and enable "FPS counter". Anyways, I also got very low FPS. Someone recommended turning resolution to the lowest. It greatly improves gameplay, although does not look very good.

As I said in the OP, the framerate is fine, I am getting a constant 150 - 300FPS at all times at the highest settings. I am just getting a bunch of random stutters here and there and would love a solution to that problem!

Could be a background process on your PC that causes a spike everytime it runs. Malwarebytes was causing random stutters for me so stopping it fixed for me.

I am not running any specific AV other than Windows Defender. And even with that turned Off it still stutters.

And I pretty much have no other programs that could be causing it.

However, I have since posting about this completed the campaign of the game and am for now done with the game so I am not going to bother with it anymore. I am hoping the MW3 campaign won't have the same issues.

Just wait the stuttering out and it goes away.
It happens to me whenever I start a mission.

Because I don't game much but I used to, that's why the rest of my specs are pretty good, I just sold my GPU since it was quite expensive and I was not using it. I mostly only game older games like the older CoD games and besides that I watch TV-shows and play some console exclusive games from time to time. That's why.

I guess I could sell my i7 6700K and settle for a cheaper CPU but I don't think I would gain much profit by doing that to be honest :p

So the reason is quite simply that I barely play games anymore and a card like the GTX 1080 would just go to waste.

For me it doesn't, but as I said answered to the other comment, I have since making this post finished the game already and will probably not be returning to it except for maybe Spec Ops so I don't really care anymore. The stuttering did not make it impossible to complete the game, it was just a mild annoyance.

Have you tried the game without running mods? Are your components dirty and dusty? Is anything slightly unplugged? Does your GPU Have enough VRAM for this game? Just check those if you havent already and you may find a solution. If you came in think you could run this game and maybe turns out you cant just google "MW2 Game Debate" and it will tell you to enter you CPU GPU and how much Ram you own and tell you the settings you can run the game on if you can at all. If none of that is fixed you may want to look into other solutions.

Verify the integrity of the files, if that doesn't work, look around the mouse settings in the game, sometimes it'll change on it's own for some reason.
