Age of Empires Vs Total War Games.
Good morning everyone. I have a question regarding the two strategy game franchises which pride themselves on historical accuracy, game-play experience and atmosphere.

Out of the two, which would you say reigns supreme in the real-time strategy genre, Age of Empires or Total War?

I for one am new to the real time strategy game genre, and would like to get into it by first purchasing a game which is worth playing for the above-mentioned reasons.

Hm. Did you get ChatGPT to write this for you?

I mean... You can't go wrong with Rome: Total War. Any of the earlier Total War games are incredible. Some of the newer ones are pretty fun as well, but Creative Assembly is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed lately.

True. CA really has lost it lately.

Though are any of the Age of Empires games worth playing these days? Because I cannot help but feel that they are still worth checking out, even though people do say that the Total War franchise is more immersive overall.

Do they have any game-play features that make them stand out?

Wait. You have an opinion about CA's current state, yet no knowledge of their literally ICONIC franchise?

Who are you trying to fool? :steamfacepalm::steamthumbsdown:

I did not say that I am completely knowledgeable about the Total War franchise. I'm merely spouting issues pointed out by other people who have supported CA's Total War franchise for a long time.

And to be honest, I do agree with some of the issues that they pointed out, such as the games becoming more streamlined, the UI still being quite problematic after all these years, and the fact that their latest games seem suspiciously similar to some of the mods developed by die-hard fans of TW for Total War Medieval 2.

Don't put words in my mouth which I did not say. I already told you that I am still new to the franchise, but I am doing as much research as I can to become more familiar with the franchise as a whole and the state in which CA is currently in.

This video link here in fact should support my current belief that CA really has begun to view any form of criticism aimed against it and its iconic franchise as sinful and punishable by banning people from forums.

Do with it as you will. But I am unsure of whether a game development company such as CA even deserves any form of support at this point in time or not.

One thing though that does surprise me is why Age of Empires is no longer as heavily discussed when compared to the likes of the Total War franchise.

Could it be that it has lost some of its popularity over the years?
