anyway to get the original version?

I have an old laptop with a very bad CPU but of course good enough to play the original version of AOE1. this 'definitive edition' has 100x higher system requirements. How to play the original version?

How bad is your cpu? May be you could try aoe2 hd as they may have lower spec for pc.

AMD E1-1200 1.2ghz. I wanna beat the original AOE1 campaign first tho

It's somewhere in the settings don't remember exactly where , where you can choose between the old style graphics or the new enhanced graphics check the settings or options or whatever and read each one until you find it and check it or uncheck it, I don't remember which slot exactly it was on and have to install this myself.

I have the original AOE installed on my Windows XP (32 bit).
I had no problems with installing and running it, although initially this game was designed for Windows 95/98.

The original version also has an HD-patch and you can play on the wide screen monitor with resolution 1920 x 1080. Try to install Windows XP and enjoy playing.

The original AOE can be installed and run on Windows 7 (64 bit) as well.

I still have the original CDs and play successfully on Win 10, you can probably buy them on Ebay or download it.

WinWorld PC has the AOE Gold Version on its games tab. It was considered abandon-ware and is available. The website is legit, I use it for Computer Projects.
