What kind of Antivirus are you running in the background?
Bitdefender Total Security

ETA: Haven't gotten any notifications of the AOE .exe being blocked for any reason

Avast anti-virus, but I noticed my AMD Relive isn't running in the background to capture footage, think this is causing the interference ?
There were two kinds of Firewall exception needed to be made in the beginning of launching the game, I have allowed both already.
Same problem here. I'm using Nod32. Tried to whitelist the program, but that didn't solved the problem. Maybe another process interfering? With this problem the game unplayable :(

Well I'm still downloading and have to see if I get the same error but for the time being manually whitelist the .exe file in your Antivirus.
I have the same problem! play for a few minutes and game just kicks me
Here is what I've found in a forum thread with regards to this problem:

Here are a few particular antivirus programs with known conflicts, and resolution steps for each:
Avast: Age of Empires DE must be added to the program’s whitelist.
Comodo: disable shellcode injection detection.
F-secure: Age of Empires DE must be added to the program’s whitelist.
Do you think this is related to cracked version of Microsoft Office ?! :steammocking:
I dont have cracked Office or any other warez
I noticed in Process Explorer that the game's CPU usage doubles during the warning message period... Not sure if it has any relevance, thought I'd mention it just in case.
If you have bitdefender, simply put the path of the AoE executable in the list of the "Advanced Threat Defense" panel. In my case, it fixed the problem.
I added the game to Avast anti-virus exception list, so far I'm not getting that message and haven't kicked me out yet.
