How is this game so Big?

hi,
i have the original age of empires somewere on my rooftop... i think it was shipped on 2 CD's or maybe just one... so now steam says this one is 16GB and i just wonder:

HOW?

i mean maybe the "updatet" textures take some more space, maybe the music is more HQ but 16gb sounds big to me for this game

4K textures, baby.

4k textures and steams "estimation" isnt mostly accurate, just compare the GB Steam says and how large the folger actually is.

Don't forget, the installer probably requires some additional HD space for a temporary swapfile while the game files are being loaded. Check the game directory after installation to see how much those 4K textures really needed.

The most space is used for the animations (it's complete 2D, no 3D).
