will there ever be a story to be unfolded to see what happened to this world? so far we have zombies, mutated rabbits and an apocalypse to find the story behind.

My theory is that aliens came and are sucking up the oceans, while doing that they spread viruses (zombies) and mutated creatures (rabbits). Water turning into a scarce resource causing world wide famines, and our charactor is driving from europe to asia.

From what I have collected, It all began when a strange red orb entered the Solar system. This can be seen through a reference on a Magazine cover. This was in 1977. We know that roughly 90 percent of the population died, too, through radio interviews. One of these is the ad on MetalPants, which talks about the Rubber wife.

The alien's further complicate this, as well as zombies. If they were to invade earth, why is this supposed virus not infections? It's not. The people we find have been driven insane. They still have brain functions, but they have lost whatever sense of humanity they have, acting more like animals and repeating various phrases, wether to seem less threatening or something else.

As for the Aliens, I think that they have been observing. They do not want to be seen, as when they come across us, they use EMPs to disable all electrics. This allows them to escape at speed, where you cannot move. They are not aggressive however, even when met with aggression.

Some object, possibly a super weapon has been deployed, wiped out what was of humanity and mutated whats left to create a waste land, where this invading force can then come down.

But that's just a theory. A GAAAAAME THEORY!

There is some things about the lore on the radio, this is what I know right now from what the radio person was saying

In 1979, 2 timelines got split, we are in the not normal one, and it is suggested that the other people are in the normal timeline, apparently people are trying to communicate with the people in the normal timeline, apparently this came from some research in Hungary

Here's my theory,

You are driving through the apocalyptic wasteland known as Europe, on your way to visit your darling grandmother.

The Long Drive takes place in a dried up ocean, how do we know? Well tons of ship wreckage dotted across the wasteland.

Clearly organized government and civilization has gone to ♥♥♥♥, most likely through some type of global catastrophe, most likely Nuclear War or Aliens.

The mutants are Humans turned cannibal, they aren't some type of zombies or brain dead idiots. They still have thought enough to make threats towards you.

You the Player, are most likely trying to drive out of the Ocean to promising new land, if any still exists.
You do this by using your cobbled together vehicle, which is apparently one of the very few still working.

Based on the notebooks and lore we do know, The year is 1977 or sometime after that.

Everything else is up completely for speculation, there's not much lore to be had but I'm sure the Developers at some point will add to the story, IF they actually start working on the game hardcore.

I vaguely remember one of the radio announcers talking about how the world's geography had been "scrambled" and the original continents are gone. Think it was on either MetalPants or the synthwave station.

My lore is that the aliens were harmless, and they came and told the humans: "We are willing to turn this place into a testing ground" and then evreyone in the world settled in a large underground city

the cars, trucks, trailers, buildings, and houses were all the same in the city and they were being made in a large factory, the walls of the city were made of the strongest metals, and the aliens helped making a machine that creates water and food so people dont starve to death, all the animals were in a very big zoo so they also dont die, meanwhile on the surface, there were dead corpses and dead rabbits on the ground

then the aliens were working on a superweapon for the testing ground, they turned it on, and it exploded, killing all the aliens, but some of them survived, and im guessing the 10.50 radio thing are the aliens basiclly telling you: Hey Human, theres an underground city, you have to go there quick!

From what i think, the water towers had a secret entrance that the player doesent know about to the underground city, and you(the player) is basiclly a corpse turned back alive thats extremely smart and knows how to drive, attach trailers, etc,

you can expand this lore so please do!

Holy hell man you need grammar lessons. If you don't remember what you heard on the radio you could've said "I remember hearing story lore on the radio but I forgot what it said" instead of that monstrous sentence you made me read.

bro, that was like a year ago, AHEMMM: "One day when I was driving in TDL, I had the Radio on, The person said like pieces of lore (that i don't remember) and was coughing (cause maybe he was infected by chance?)." Done, Happy?
