Several of those commands seem to yield no response.
Others have meanings that are unclear and additionally yield no response.

I was hoping if I got the answer to the above I could scrap by long enough to learn via hard knocks. That, or maybe get pointed to something written by a player with experience who knows what works and what doesn't.

Maybe I'm not getting something?

it depends what you're playing on. are you on controller or keyboard + mouse?

i only play on keyboard and mouse so i can only help you with that:

Grabbing stuff: Press F to pick up things. Then press Tab to equip them. Once you no longer want to hold an item, hold it out and press Tab again to unequip it. Then press F to drop it.

Inventory: Push either 1, 2, 3 or 4 to go to the inventory slot you want to. Once you equip an item you can put it in one of the inventory slots.

Driving: I find it easier to drive with Auto Clutch and Auto Shift toggled in the Main menu (right above Start). Press E to sit in the seat you want. make sure to be in the driver's seat to drive. Make sure the handbrake is off (press Space) in order for the car to roll. You also have to make sure the car is filled with the right fluids. All engines require Oil to work, and all Radiators require water. The fuel tank, however, is either filled with Gas or Diesel. It depends on the car you're driving. Big things like trucks or buses need diesel, while smaller things need Gas. Once your car is ready to go, open the doors at the starting house (assuming that's where you are) by holding E and moving the mouse. Get in the driver's seat and hold S to reverse out of the house. Then make sure that the telephone poles are ALWAYS on the right of the road because that's the right way to go. Turn left/right using A and D. Go forward by holding W.

Every day I do a little better.

Any thoughts on maintaining a consistent speed? I seem to be revving, slowing down, revving, slowing down...

Also. Seems like the sun goes down as soon as I get outside. Would it be smart to stay put and take off at dawn?

1. Are you holding down W the whole time or just holding it for a little bit? Make sure you're holding W down the whole time instead of in intervals.

2. If you want you can hold V to sleep through the night in case it's easier to go at day time. Also i forgot to say this but if you press L you can turn on the headlights of the car. Press it again to make the lights brighter
