The Long Drive

The Long Drive

I'll buy when published on GOG Galaxy, anyone else?
Until the day when " https://www.gog.com/game/the_long_drive " becomes a reality, my wallet is waiting.

Nope, I fail to see the point in using Steam to just buy on a different platform altogether unless it is for some intrusive DRM reason which this game does not appear to have. Just your typical steam DRM which is non-intrusive.

I prefer to securely archive the games I buy. You can't do that with Steam.
Long Drive is a good game, I want to "keep & save" it.

Steam has Backup / Restore, and nothing preventing you from just zipping up the game directory/folder since it is a bit faster than steams built in option. Maybe I am missing the point, but .. There are ways for everything. Every one of my 400+ games are sitting on my storage drive. (except this one yet as I just bought it the other day)

The Long Drive comes with no DRM already.
Buying it here, you will have no issue to keep and save it.

You need Steam Client to Restore backed up games, that's a no go. And as for zipping, most Steam published games wont run unless Steam is running or installed. Trust me I've tried, thus, GOG.

I stick by my "there are ways for everything" comment - and while I get it...

you might be happy to know that in fact as of right now - this game can be run without steam in its own folder anywhere else on your HDD. Though, I cannot say for certain if that will change in future versions. Your backup/archive issues are a moot point as of right now. (No steam api ties into game currently)

The Long drive isn't one of those games. Calm down.
Why dont you just join TLD's discord . australian man?
This is just paranoia. You are denying yourself a good game for no other reason.

Same
hmmm..... well I have it on steam. So I have it everywhere? What do you get out of it? can you then modify it or something? or is it just a matter of having an exe or zip file?
