Some solutions were found to this.
Regarding your last note, the game doesn't have song skipping enabled by default. (I guess it wants to simulate an actual radio). There is however a mod that adds song Skipping with press of a button. And it also allows you to keep custom music disabled so it doesn't always run in the background, and just manually play songs when you want - which in a way can also solve your song skipping entirely.
It also loads songs slightly faster somehow, and has allowed some ppl to use .ogg / mp3 without as much of a freeze spike
Where can I get this mod from?
I can't recall exactly, but there was a whole thread on it in discord.
