I am in one now. Found it at a diner at KM 437 in my current seed. Spent three game days getting it road worthy and on our first 10 km's out, found a ship with a full 55 litter drum of gas. I'm set for a bit.
Being repainted is the most plausible explanation. These cars are old enough that it would actually be pretty surprising if any of them were supposed to have the original paint jobs.
I also think it's funny that it's based off the movie car, as it could still technically be modeled on a Belvedere. They had to use some of those, as they used multiple cars while filming and the Fury was already pretty scarce by the time the movie was made.
This is what im rollin with right now. The ai mod is great for stealing parts, although they don't reload on saves for some reason. I wish i could grab the light bar off a cop car...

And i forgot to mention that in 1958 the Fury was only available in Buckskin Beige, in '59 it had the same colour palate available as the rest of the line
