Lost road

Ive been driving around now for at least 500km and i havent found a road , i think i'm nearly 3,000km into the game.

how do you get back to the road when you are so lost in the desert, there has to be a way of finding the road, anyone got any ideas please

If u have a compass, the road goes in the general direction of the sun set, West. The compass needs to be mounted in the center of the dash so it reads correctly. Only thing you can do is watch where the sun sets and if its not in front of you you're facing the wrong direction. Once you find the correct direction of travel you'll have to try running NW or SW for a while until you find the road. In other words zig zagging along that line facing W. It won't be easy if you've gotten really far from the road, but you will be going the right direction and you might just get lucky eventually.

ive sort of been heading north for hours of gameplay lol , i'll try the compass in front of me as its at an angle, right i'll try and head for the sunset , i bet i am thousands of KM away , i dont even know how far the map goes in each direction, ive been fearing i would find the starting point and have to do it all again lol

Remember the compass does not point N, it points in the direction that you're supposed to go, which is actually W, toward the sun and moon set. If you've really been running N for a while and haven't hit road, you probably need to try heading back S, or SW, but stay on the line facing the sunset. If you've only done 3k there's a chance you'll still find the road before it ends. Right now i am almost 5k past the end of the road traveling W in the desert just for fun. The globe is 40,000km around so you're not close to that lol. If your save is at 3k, you might still have a shot at the end, but it might be wise to revert back to another save as you might never find the road again. Good luck.

This is where i set up my compass and turn it so "W" is facing up when i'm driving toward the end of the road. You can see the moon setting slightly off center. The sun usually sets in about the same spot. Hopefully i'm not totally wrong cuz i'm hoping to circle the earth lol.

Are you sure you have driven 3000 and not 300km? Yellow number on the odometer is decimal

Good point. A lot of people don’t realize just how far that is. If I’m grinding it out that far I’m not going wandering the desert. Definitely have some saves for backup. Then they would have your true distance too though. I switch cars so I don’t pay much attention to odometers unless I grab one from the Trabant so I can use the trip meter. Another thing useful in the desert lol.

overall ive driven 3,000km in the game , god knows how many miles ive done since losing the road it has to be at least 300km or more, the trouble is ive picked up a couple of different cars along the way

right i shall go back between S and SW and see where i get to , i did lose the road before for 100 miles or so , i think it was luck i found the road, trouble is this time i have only just gone North and then following the sun in the last couple of hours gametime, i bet ive been on one long circle in the desert lol

oh right , nice one, i must have accidentally turned it when moving it about , i was then sure it was pointing to where the road would be :D lol, i ignored it just in case, i stayed following the sun.
I doubt i will ever find the road now though

Road points west, if you know which side of it you drove off into, it’s easy to return to it

how can you tell if you have been somewhere before , i thought i saw an old car , but the fuel was different to what i had left and it wasnt polished like i left it , i dont know if im going round in circles , what can i put in places that doesnt change so i know ive already been there
