Engine shut off when put into gear

Hi guys.
Started playing this game yesterday, didn't mess with anything, just drove to the first gas station using the keyboard, auto clutch and auto shift on. No problems. Then I mapped my xbox controller to the game and it seems to have broken the driving. Now I can start the car in neutral but as soon as I put it into gear the engine dies. I tried turning auto shift back on, that just causes the car to crank endlessly in 1st gear but not actually idle or move, I tried mapping clutch, turning auto clutch off and gently moving it like a real car to set off, but the engine still dies and the car won't move. I tried going back to WASD but have the same problems. Since the whole point of the game is driving I'm kinda stuck at the mo. What am I missing?

make sure that the axes are not inverted or slightly pressed if you release them, you can see the values in the steering wheel settings

Did you leave hand brake on.. if its on when you try to drive it keeps stalling out.. hit the space bar to turn brake off and on..

Thanks for the reply Genesz, I tried messing around with it again, inverting, resetting, nothing will work for me unfortunately it seems. The clutch and pedals all move as they should, just the revs dip as I bring the clutch up, but the car won't move. I bring it up and apply gas like a real car and the revs dip on the bite but the engine just stalls and the car doesn't move. I have got it going using keyboard with auto clutch on now though which is good.
Handbrake was definitely off BreadMan, thanks for the tip though.

I just got the game and having the same issue. I didn't change anything.

Just do a reinstall.. the game isnt that big anyway

having this problem with my logitech g920 w/ h-shift, auto clutch and shift works fine, and throttle and brake work okay in auto, but as soon as i bind the gears to my shifter and use auto clutch, it seems the engine dies immediately.
im using the flat diesel engine btw
