you should be fine running it.

Yeah, this videocard is more than powerful enough for this game.
The real question is if your CPU is good enough.
The game is very CPU heavy, much more than it is GPU.
Low end i5 CPUs and similar tend to struggle and sometimes crash.
What CPU do you have?

gpu is no problem with this game, you probably can play it on a integrated GPU, the main problem is RAM and CPU power

seems strange for a game that looks like it came out in 2008

Actually.. You can, just fine as I found out!
Card decided to give up on me, so I've been forced to use the onboard untill I can replace it.
(Naturally... It doesn't like light sources ect, due to the shadows being cast, but turn those off and it's Semi-playable)

The onboard is a : HD4000 series.

i tested it with a Intel HD 4600 and a Radeon HD 7560D, which workedbut not totally satisfying (playable, but meh) and after that with a Nvidia Quadro K620 (which has a similiar performance to a Nvidia GTX650 or a 940M) and it works totally fine (and with totally fine i mean it dosnt make much difference with the ammount lags and stuttering it produced :P )

My cpu had slightly above the recomended stats but it still took up 90-98% of it and crashed

I *think* the problem right now is that the game simulates alot of stuff simultaneously (Doors, mirrors, hoods, everything in range that is movable, also liquids) and i dont know how much is calculated that we dont notice (radio, tires). I would say every of these calculations is done by the CPU, thats why it tends to lock up occasionally.

But the developer is working on map generation right now (which probably adds to the problem), so lets see after the new update :)

I refunded it. If it was a card issue I could deal with it but a half decent cpu costs more than a human soul.

Yeah a i5 2nd gen is just too little to manage at the moment.
But CPU aren't that expansive for good ones! My CPU is a Xeon from 2009, but has the performance of a i7-3770! The whole PC not including the GPU was 200 euros , so CPU motherboard PSU case cooling and all at such a good price!
The trick is to buy older high end stuff, than to buy newer low end stuff, it ends up being much cheaper and much more powerful!

i still think that the physical calculatins are to blame here, maybe that can be reduced (due optimization) or "outsourced" to a graphic card

I think the main problem with cpu usage comes from the not properly done multi threading. It is done properly (or at least in a much much better way) in the upcoming version test (available through betas) than in the current version, but it's not complete yet.
And many people had crashes because of the fog or smoke, after disabling them, they can play.

Got the card today and ♥♥♥♥ myself when my computer made actual noise. I didn't even know my my moniter had speakers because my old card couldn't use them and they couldn't be used without one apparently.
