Fuel Tank Swap
While this might seen strange, but 99% of the cars I find has a bad fuel tank with no gas or full of water and that, I think there could be an option to change the fuel tank, example: lets say you find an amazing car but there is no fuel on it nor do you have fuel, you would want to take your fuel tank to that car and use it.

you can empty a fuel tank by removing the two tires on that side.
if you use a bucket or yellow oil canister you can collect whatever liquid pours out of the fuel tank.
if you got the hose just lower the car you want the fuel to go in by removing tires.

I don't know where to find the hose, but I will definitively check the first way, sadly I don't think it works on the Trabant

i know im late but you can find it in the starting garage or the bus stop green recycle bins. just look down and hold q and move your mouse forward to look into it

You need a siphoning hose.

The first thing to do is to either siphon away the contents of the fuel tank.

Then you can fill the tank with whatever you want.
If you want to be lazy, you can even drive your old car right next to the new car, lining up the fuel tanks and connect them with the hose and the fuel will be siphoned to the other car. I did it once, don't ask why it works but it just did!

IF you have a canister of fuel and you just want to empty the tank from the other cars, try tilting the car or turning it on its side until the tank is empty, and then fill it from the can.

I recommend keeping the hose in the 4th inventory slot because it doesn't play nice with the game physics.

I had to slip a tire under the car then rotate it to empty the gas but I barely made it work

I think there should always be a hose in the starter house on the second floor.
You can use this to drain the fuel tanks of cars.
I like to keep it in my inventory because I am unsure how well it would ride in my cars trunk but i don't want to lose it because it is too useful.

Yep. There will always be a siphon hose found in the rafters of the starting house. If you miss or lose it, I find the best places to look for another are diners and the bridge buildings. I also keep one in my inventory and I have a spare one stored in a basket. That's for just in case physics decides to fling the one I'm using several miles off into the distance, something that has happened to me before.

I know this is off topic but having a removable fuel tank would be nice

Some vehicles (Particularly; The Barkas, the Trabant, the Jawa and Pannonia and the IFA) has detachable fuel tanks. Into the fuel slots, any liquid vessel may be placed and they'll function (I.e. you can replace a trabant's fuel tank with a large drum)

However the other vehicles do not have this option.

If you'd like to drain the liquids out of a vehicle's tank, you have two options.

1: You can use the siphon hose. This item may be found anywhere, although it is guaranteed to spawn in the starter home in the attic.

2: You can prop objects underneath the car, pull open the gas filler cap and tip the car over to pour the liquid out. It's a little tricky, but there are a couple tricks involving attaching long objects (Like pallets) to the underside of the car's hood/boot while it's open, and then closing it, like a makeshift car jack.

Easiest way to drain a fuel tank with the wrong fuel or contaminated mixtures on a vehicle that doesn't have a removable fuel tank? Open the cap and push the vehicle from the opposite side (try not to rip the doors off, Hercules!) of the cap until you hear it flowing out. Can be a little tricky to not flip the vehicle completely over but it does work. Just make sure all of the other caps for water/oil are closed before you do this. To save the fuel if you want to transfer it to another vehicle it's best to siphon it out. A hose can be found in the attic of the starter location. They're pretty scarce to find afterwards.

Tip!: When adding fuel or fluids to any tank I prefer to open the cap on the tank I want to fill and lift the carrying container above the cap. Make sure your cursor is highlighting the cap of the tank (not the container!) and begin filling. No need to open the cap on the transfer container. No messy and costly spills as long as you keep the tank cap lit and you don't have to fiddle with the hose or knock over open cans

I tried that but the whole car just flew away
