Battle Strategies? Builds in general?
Hey guys, I'm currently at 91 tiles and combat has slowed down immensely here on the second continent. I'm never sure how you guys usually decide how to build your tiles for certain purposes. All I find online are guides from 2 years ago before classes were a thing for heroes or where stuff just worked differently than they do now.

Anybody got any tips for builds?

I'm only at 45ish tiles on the first continent, but even for me, combat is too slow vs. buying tiles at this point. It's around 35,000 enemies per tile for me for combat, which is just a huge time sink.

However, if you're going to be gone for an extended period of time, I imagine it could be better than nothing. At least for me, Ronin class and Oni religion was the best combination, along with the werewolf staff. Between the "blood magic" revive from the Oni religion and the HP boost from killing enemies, and the auto-revive from the Ronin class, I could leave my hero going for a long time without having to check in.

I've read online that if you can get a master blacksmith, he can then use the forge to upgrade the +2 hammer, and that essentially makes you invincible. However, I'm not at that point yet.

training halls. I'm a lot further in which empire points that makes things all sorts of different, but beserkers are ALWAYS the fastest way to cap tiles after your second contientnt with paladins being only slightly slower assuming you are running the god of wheat. Use the weapon smith to upgrade the basic sword for early deployment, the hammer for your mid tier, and either boost the basic sword or my preference, the lance for the high tier stuff. it all depends on how much aap your heroes get. the basic swords speed boost is the best overall for just powering through it, but the lance uses up less aap.

The training halls (I usually run 2 simultaneously) make it so the beserker is always killing 2 enemies per hit even at 50k+ enemies per tile, literally cutting the capture time in half. The basic sword gets +2% speed per upgrade.

Its also best to run 2 academies at a time so that you arent waiting for one to finish. This is best to wait to do until you've unlocked international trade, then just straight up buy the stone to build the second academy instead of waiting for the resources.

My tile setup for lets say 25 times is usually. 2 wheat, 1 forest, 1 quarry, 4 temples, 4 cathedrals, 2 academies, 2 training yards, 1 forge, 1 harbor, and 7 theatres (this should be the first building you go for on the empire points, it makes it so much easier imo)

I usually keep this setup, just increasing schools until I'm at about 34 tiles where I up my fields and forests to 4 each and my quarries to 2, and then around 50 I go up to 6 fields 8 forests and start pushing the coastline to get the harbors as well.

Sweet, I'll try it out! Thanks for the reply

I should have noted, for the first few continents dont try and push for the max on tiles, grabbing a bit of fame by sailing away as soon as you can drastically helps out, since you get so much more gold per abdication

This. Unless you're intentionally trying to "challenge" yourself, there's no reason to stay on a continent. It's much more efficient to just sail away ASAP.

Here are some number to prove the point: a tile with 35,000 enemies takes AT LEAST 9 hours to complete (that's assuming the best-case scenario where you're always one-shotting two enemies at once with the berserker). What do you get out of that in the long run? Just 5 amber and 1 fame (+3% abdication gold on FUTURE CONTINENTS). On the other hand, if you sail away to a new continent, 9 hours could easily get you 10+ tiles, that's 50+ amber, 10 fame AND probably an extra empire point (or at least 2/3 of an empire point depending on your tile count when you sail).

Sail away!
----------
Now if you're dead-set on filling up the continent for whatever reason, there's not much you can do so early to improve combat speed other than training halls. Most things that can really speed combat up is beyond your reach. Depending on what your playing schedule is and your build preferences, resetting your empire points to go all Japanese *may* help, that's about it.

Oh wow that's a very compelling argument..
What about amber? I have 432 amber, was gonna save up for the 999 upgrade but I guess spending some in production% is probably gonna speed it up more than waiting for another 570 amber..
Yukkuri_Dango Oct 7, 2020 @ 4:22pm
I would suggest you spend them on the +25% ones first. I only started saving for the 999 upgrade on my 7th continent, and I'm glad I have all those +% upgrades first. Roman 1 is really enough of a boost already (AND it works with all buildings, unlike the amber upgrade). Best to start enjoying the faster rates now than wait for the big payoff much later.

Agreed for sure. Amber gets plentiful, especially once you are sailing away every day or two

Early game, Hammer, shield that takes less damage, and helmet that gives 2 damage per kill. When you have berzerker. I'd suggest also having Oni and do the healing and revival upgrade, as with it you can clear around 4k enemies. After that with Bezerker just do strong weapons, and if you have any oni relic upgrades, just have him run on AAP. Once you have Japanese 1, Rogue with 2+ damage hat, sling shot, and oni buff's, rogue can clear a tile without dying basically, but it takes a very long time. Paladin for me is useless, and post continet 4 ish Ronin become useless. Before that point, Ronin is amazing because AAP isn't that easy to get,

once u get enough empire points, it more efficient to focus gathering gold, once u got a ton of it, invest in america and russia empire perks, one gets halves the cost of tiles and the other decease the increase of gold, make sure u dont buy to many tiles, maybe like 4 or 5, before getting to the sea outlet, (just use the rogue with the evasion mace and swirly dagger and let the aap do the rest before reaching the sea outlet)once ur making gold invest all ur gold into surveyors, at certain point the buy tile will round to 0 gold, but u'll get there after several sail aways, and then just go on a crazy tile buying streak.

This doesn't do anything special. Hoarding surveyors and not buying tiles DOES NOT make the price permanently 0, even if you get it that low! Once you start buying tiles again, the price of them will start going up again. Always buy your surveyors and tiles when it's the most cost effective so you can start producing more gold with them.
