ahhh easy Rebirth 1-3. Megadimension neptunia. Thats it for the main titles imo. The others are spin-offs you can play in literally any order you want.

Rebirth 1 is a stand alone with the same main characters but a completely separated story set in an "alternate universe". While the characters are the same their relationships differ somwhat so it can be confusing to play that one and then the others.
You should play Rebirth 2, then 3, then Neptunia VII for the "main storyline". The rest of the games are spin offs like this one.

RB 1 is indeed an alternate universe, but it's a good introduction to the franchise I would say, it describes all the characters in a manner that is not seen in any other game after. I would also suggest RB 1, 2, 3, V-II.

Out of the spinoffs, definitely play Neptune vs. Sega hard girls as it's basically the same style of a game as the main line entries.

The Main series RB 1 _wich serves as an good introduction for all the characters,2,3 and VII (skip VIIR, wich is basically the same game with few extras, and they cut the other endings except the true end)

For the spin offs
U and Blanc vs Zombies are ARPG with the same engine, basically arenas similar to Nights of Azure, pretty fun tough.
Cyber 4GO also an ARPG but with better engine and more deep gameplay, ultra recommended
Noire is SRPG with some spikes in difficult but an really good game too
Sega Hard Girls plays exactly like the main series but in this one Iffy is the protag (even tough Nep disagree on that lol), also the dungeons in SHG has some gimmicks to traverse and etc
There's also the shmup wich is basically that

My order for the spin offs are 4GO, Noire,Sega Hard Girls,Blanc, U

They also Cut the extra DLC characters from VIIR and the Story events and sidequests related to the Maker dlc characters, Million Arthur, Nitroplus and God Eater

Rebirth 1 is a very good introduction to the characters. Rebirth 2 Starts off the main story branch that Rebirth 3/VII/VIIR. As a first time player to VII/VIIR I would play VII as all the similarities as the other games while VIIR is a watered down remake with a whole new battle system which I didn't care for too much.

As for the spin offs. I recommend the all except action U because I think action U was terrible.

Are you planning on playing them all? Please don't do this to yourself.

Get out here troll. No one asked you.
You already have an answer, but I would recommend the first game of you have a PS3. It gets a lot of flak, but it is really not that bad.

Yeah. The first game is fun, if you don't mind every battle taking A LONG TIME.
Seriously, that's why I got frustrated with the first game on the PS3.

Whoa now. There's no reason to call him that just because he doesn't want to inflict Hyperdimension Action Battle Unleashed on that guy.

Rebirth 2 has the conquest ending. I loved it, but some people got permanent scarring from it

I have been playing through it again recently, the battles are really not that slow. Traversing the dungeons is the slowest part of the game. And watching Neptune Break. I doubt it, but are UK and US PS3s and their disc different in some way? Because when I first played it I had a yank copy and it ran worse than my current UK copy. In addition, the game speeds up in Dis Snow Forest, so it looks normal, which I never noticed before.
