however ,
Vegas 17 Edit Pro has a new "File IO" Tab in vegas menu
Options-->Preferences-->File IO to enable Experimental MKV reader .

Magix web site has 30 day trial to test Vegas Edit Pro .
if it does what you want , you can get it from Steam or Magix web site .
