How to find the "blue" lost souls (Righteous Souls) for the real ending?

How do I know where to go to get all three souls? It's just no fun to get to the boss with only one or two souls rescued.
I think the "Wanted" posters don't have anything to do with it. I sometimes find the first soul already in "The Crypt" and the "Wanted" posters never say "The Crypt" on any of them.

The key, or at least what I did and it worked for me, was to notice what the cowboy says when you reach the end of each level. You stand on top of the exit circle, and without hitting the square to enter, observe what it says. It may be that he says that he feels a friend close (or similar things) and that means that in the next level there is a blue soul. If he does not say anything, or says that you are not on the right track, it means that it is not the way you should start, and you will have to look for another of the exit circles (as you already know there are several levels that have 2 exits that take you to different places).
So to shorten it, before finishing a level, watch what the cowboy says when you stand in the starting circle without actually using it and you will know which route to take at any time.
