WTF is up with horsemen?

I'm tempted to uninstall at this point. My first run went relatively well and I was nearly able to defeat the marshlands boss. All enemies I've encountered so far seemed relatively fair.

On my second run, I got completely obliterated in stage 2 (the battlefield?) by horsemen. I've lost ALL lives in this one room with 3 horsemen. They do this undodgeable charge attack which stuns me and hits me thrice, without any counterplay, making me lose nearly half my total health.

Also, sometimes they just randomly stun me and set my health to 1. How? I don't know.

Eh?
It IS dodgeable.
I'll say more - you can even dodge it without using "dodge", that is with sprint.

The only guess i can come up with - lightning elite.

It is dodgeable. You can even lure them into walls while they're doing this attack. Hold the dodge button to run when they start that attack.

Do they have a magic circle on them? This means they are elite versions of the Horsemen. They have more HP, Hyper Armor and can inflict a status ailment on you if their attacks connect. The ailment depends on the color of the circle. Judging by your comment, you fought an elite with the Paralyze ailment which randomly deals extra elemental damage and stuns your heroine.
