Club selection
got a question for anyone,

asw you go through your career, or just going through the different clubs to choose from, is it mne or are the set of clubs you start with the better ones to play with?

it seems that as i want to get better clubs there is a drastic change in stats.

know what i mean? unless im looking at things wrong

thank you

1 - Purple(Top tier), 2 - Gold/yellow, 3 - Silver, 4 - Bronze/orange, 5 - Blue(Bottom tier)

CLUB ATTRIBUTE BREAKDOWN

DISTANCE
*Gameplay: Determines the max carry distance, launch RPMs, and apex of a shot.
*Counter Attribute: Forgiveness (+Distance equals -Forgiveness)
*Pro: Increased distance offers more scoring potential on long holes, with well struck shots.
*Con: Reduced hook/slice control (Forgiveness) can lower FIR and GIR percentages for a lesser skilled golfer.

FORGIVENESS
*Gameplay: Impacts the downswing timing forgiveness. Poor timing tilts the spin axis on the ball, resulting in off target shots.
*Counter Attribute: Distance (+Forgiveness equals -Distance)
*Pro: Increased hook/slice forgiveness keeps you out of the hazards, and on target more often than not.
*Con: Reduced distance can make scoring on longer holes more challenging.

SWING PLANE
*Gameplay: Impacts the swing plane forgiveness. Missing the swing plane adds push or pull to a shot.
*Counter Attribute: Distance Control (+Swing Plane equals -Distance Control)
*Pro: Increased push/pull forgiveness keeps you out of the hazards, and on target more often than not.
*Con: Reduced Distance Control makes it harder to dial in that distance, resulting in more over/under shooting of your target.

DISTANCE CONTROL
*Gameplay: Impacts the backswing to downswing transition window. Backswing transition point determines the swing power.
*Counter Attribute: Swing Plane (+Distance Control equals -Swing Plane)
*Pro: Increased Distance Control reduces the chance of an over swing or an under swing, keeping you on target.
*Con: Reduced Swing Plane forgiveness increases the chance of pushing or pulling your shot.

SHOT SHAPING
*Gameplay: Impacts the amount of fade/draw/spin control that can be done using the True Shot shaping feature.
*Counter Attribute: Various
*Pro: More flexibility with shot shaping means more ways to attack the target.
*Con: A situational attribute that doesn't come into play unless the player chooses to make use of it.

More than likely you are choosing clubs with longer distance (better clubs, for you), meaning that planes and sweet spots are going to be narrower. The more distance you get on your clubs, generally speaking, the more other parts of your swing are going to be compromised.

Narrower sweet spots can very well lower your FWs hit and GIRs, as does a slimmer swing plane. When choosing a club, the club you're looking at will be compared to your current club in your bag. Anything green means good-- longer distance for clubs, for example, or a wider sweet spot-- while anything red means a decrease.

In my tests, distance control just meant that you could hit lower percentages with clubs with more distance control attributes.

These explanations look to be far too detailed to come without references to a developer guide somewhere. Or, were you involved with the development team?

So, are these just your own personal interpretations of how the game works, or do you have references?

Besides that top line about tiers, that whole section is on the game's website...

Figures. Don't most schools teach to post references to walls of information that is not your own?

In fact, could have just posted the link to the website and said here is the link to information, which is actually more helpful, because there's most certainly other tangential information at the source, as well.

Tsk-tsk.

Rather unfortunately, these days folks who find something thinks it's theirs from the start. There's no such thing as intellectual property. I found the information on a web site, therefore it's mine. The fool who created it is nothing compared to the genius who stole it.
