In addition there are dozens of other PGA courses and hundreds of real courses that have been created by fans using lidar data.

Seems like this link is down.
The link works fine. You may need to make an account here https://www.tgctours.com/
Anyhow, in reply to the original post, there's a replica of the old Augusta called, Fruitland Farms.
I was told that there is another more modern version called, Course with No Name, but I haven't tried it just yet... because I couldn't find it for a while, either.
But, again, neither course is licensed, so don't expect Lidar accuracy.
Fruitland Farms GC isn't a replica of anything, but it is a fantastic re-imagining of what a modern layout of the original Alistair Mackenzie design might be like. Plus, this course is done by theCLV24 who puts in an incredible amount of work and detail into all of his projects.

Anyway... the lidar data that is available for the Augusta course is quite outdated considering they change the course every year. If you frequent the TGCtours designer forums you will eventually get pointed into the right direction for all the (Insert Censored Course Name) alternatives.
This is absolutely brilliant, I didn't know any of this, especially the tgc forum is extremely useful. Thanks for the accurate reply!
Seems kind of bogus to offer a course creator and then hide user-created courses, which by the way are a far cry from Augusta, because this game simply lacks the tools to make courses play the same as their real life counterparts.
But, who knows, maybe Augusta threatened to sue HB Studios.
You really are quite uninformed.
Augusta, along with a few other real life courses are licensed by Electronic Arts. These courses will be censored from search and/or be removed from the game.
There are quite a number of Societies that still play "Firethorn" and the other names of it, and you can either join the society and look at the previous events to "download and favorite" it, or you can probably find someone that that would be willing to host a multiplayer game to share it with you.
In the future, you should always "favorite" a course like these that may get censored so they remain in your favorites search filter. Also, any course you have played before will be in your previous played filter though they may appear as all **************** in the course name.
The designer tools allow for you to make practically any course in the world. If you know how to use LiDAR data and you have good source material, you can make a course that plays practically identical to the real thing. In fact, many people are doing just that. If you are interested in how to do this, do a google search for "chadtools" and follow the extensive tutorials and various forums covering the subject.
Nothing in your post is new or secret information. Obviously, EA has the license to Augusta. That doesn't mean that any user created course comes anywhere near EA's recreation.
I simply disagree that this game's course creator produces courses that play realistically. Case in point, pot bunkers, or rather, the lack thereof. I have yet to see any pot bunkers in this game. In fact, this game can't even produce regular parkland bunker complexes; it's simply woefully deficient in this regard.
Not to mention the lack of a correct splash. The canned splash shot doesn't really meet the moment, because it's canned and you simply cannot hit the sand, since this game does not include those physics. Which is probably why the splash shot in this game also curiously works from the fairway.
Then there is the issue of excessive slope physics. Go play HB Studios East Lake on anything other than slow conditions if you want a tutorial on how excessive slope physics make a course play unrealistically compared to its real life counterpart.
I can see that you're a fanboy of this game's course creator. I'm not. I don't think it's even remotely a good course creator; but I do think it's limited by the game's glaring physics issues, as well as, some engine limitations.
That said, there are certain users that have managed to make courses that are better than HB Studios offerings. But, there's only so much you can do with inferior tools.
Also, what we have is called a difference of opinion. Don't conflate that with someone else being, "uninformed," just because someone doesn't agree with you. That makes you ignorant.
Thanks for the insight.
Unfortunately, "Firethorn" is no longer "My Played" or "My Favorites" any longer. Not sure why, but it's been a few months since I started playing 2K21 again. Maybe one of the recent updates had something to do with it.
I'll explore the Societies option to see if I can access and download it like you suggest.
Thanks again for the info.
I've read most all of your posts here, and I'll stick to my statement that you are uninformed.
I will agree about the pot bunker issue, but there are dozens of fantastic recreations of real links courses that still play very much like they do in the real world. And while it sucks we don't get true pot bunker layered sod visuals with the push of a button, there is a way to make them in the game, it just takes forever to do properly and when building a course time management is paramount.
Some of the "official" courses (like East Lake) have terrain and slope issues, and this is due to the vertical resolution of the underlying LiDAR data that was used and the way the designer chose to build it out. But with good data and some talent and patience, great renditions can and are made. Many designers (even official) don't even know how to properly set up pin locations and green speeds, but this isn't really a toolset issue.
I'm not even a remote fanboy of the designer, but I also realize that the course creator is designed to work with the lowest common denominator user/hardware (the old Xbox) and to be functional with a gamepad. It took me about 100 hours to make my first course (LiDAR rendition of one of my home courses) and the whole process was filled with one frustration after another, but I finally finished with a course that plays 95% like the real deal. Once I learned the limitations of the engine and adjusted my expectations, I embraced the designer and have continued to crank out dozens and dozens of real courses that all get high marks for being just like the real thing.
There are numerous issues with this game. Look at how handicap and slope ratings are handled. The horizontal terrain transition resolution is a joke. The random delay bug that always seems to happen during the backswing of a round winning putt. The list goes on...
But I still have loads of fun, and here is what I do to make real courses play as real as possible in PGA2k21.
Use only the silver clubs to keep distance in the realm of realism
Play on Master difficulty with all aids except green grid off
I don't use canned Splash and Flop shots
