pillaging yggdrasil ends turn!?

Hi

today we played our first blood rage digital round. In the last turn (when 2 players had 0 rage, one had 1 and I had 4) I pillaged Yggdrasil with my upgraded leader and the frost giant to get multiple upgrades. Then I wanted to use my rage to go back to where ragnarok will kill my units for the extra points. Well... that was not possible. After pillaging the game ended and the points where counted.

Did I miss something or is it a bug? We all were sure that nothing happens as long as a player has rage left. I could have used 2 to build a ship there and 1 to move three units to let them die later and get 4 (I think) points per unit. Means I lost 16 points.

Of course I don't have to mention that I lost the game by 6 points ;)
actually I don't care and since everyone was as surprised as I was I just wanted to know if we missed a rule or if we encountered a bug.

you all overlooked the rules.
there are 2 ways the action phase ends (quote from the rulebook):

End of the Action Phase: The Action phase immediately ends when either all players are down to zero Rage, or all of the provinces that are not yet destroyed have been successfully pillaged (even if players still have Rage left).

Pillaging all regions is a part of the strategy when you see that you 'control' the last pillage and other players didn't play their quests (all cards), upgrades or do not have enough presence. It means they will likely fail their quests.

So, it is vital to remember this rule. It's a huge game changer if you know how to play or avoid this rule correctly (pillaging everything).
