Furthermore you can´t change anything by winning or create a badass character who would destroy everyone. There just comes a cutscene which make you lose your first match.
This is no fun to me. At least universe mode is playable otherwise this game would be a disaster.
Although I like the overall story itself, it feels different than the last two games.
Both characters are pretty ridiculously stupid (that "I'm going to give your grandma bedsores!" line showed that Red really isn't all that bright), though Tray (I know it's supposed to be Tre, but at this point in the storyline I'm not sure if Tray isn't a better fit for the guy) certainly seems to be bearing the brunt of the "hold the idiot ball!" burden in the early going. Based on some clips I've seen of later parts of the MyCareer, I think (hope) he improves, though clearly his stupidity is a running joke.
Lost in the many, many bugs, the character portrayals, and the somewhat confusing "every storyline and every match is told in a multiple daydreams and flashbacks" schtick, however, is that the bones of MyCareer are actually somewhat improved this year... though it's a bit hard to see it through all that other stuff.
Save points and progression are better managed (for example, you no longer have to, say, run through a handicap tornado tag team gauntlet against several "security guards" and half the NXT roster and THEN wait a week or two of in-game storyline to save, or win royal rumbles and fatal four ways with a character whose stats are barely above base-line to progress the early storylines). Thee are some stages where you can either win or lose and STILL progress the game. Stat progression is changed a bit -- I like separating out the Skill progression points from the Statistical progression points, though your mileage may vary.
The Buzz and Cole Show podcast is an improvement, voice-acting wise, on the (can't remember their real names) Jack Tice and Hood Benson shows from 2k19 (at least, IMO), and give us some rare continuity between games.
I was very skeptical of how it would turn out from the trailer and the prologue scene, but I'll say it's way better than I thought it would be. Aside from the bedsores line, I don't have much of an issue with Red, but Tre on the other hand took quite a while for me to consider him likeable. As an above poster mentioned, the "crybaby" match is probably the worst point of the story for him and I was about to give up on him but later on I feel he really starts to pick up though along with some hiccups of stupidity.
I haven't finished MyCareer yet, but IMO they did a good job at keeping me hooked to see what happens next.
Personal favourite moment was Sin Cara's Rumble entrance. A genuine laugh out loud moment (does that make me a bad person??)
This game has got a LOT wrong this year, but I think story mode nailed it and credit where it is due.

As of good moments i like when my player does the finish by tagging in with velveteen as he was maybe going for a purple rainmaker or brooklyn macking fun of the woman my player while she was wrestling in her town
Or this moment i think everyone will ever remember when my player in one of the cinematics falls over a lunch tray while running for help xd
The bones of the MyCareer, this year, are good: The storyline is generally fun (at least up to the point I've reached; still have a ways to go). The pace of the story feels good enough (though I almost think they rushed through in spots).
Mechanically, I'm liking how the stopping points\save points are more frequent, and the progression better fits where your character is supposed to be, ratings-wise (as opposed to last year, where you had the gauntlet match with half of the NXT roster, a Royal Rumble and a Fatal 4-Way you had to win all of so early in the game your character's overall was barely cracking 50 OVR, unless you grinded them through the towers for more XP).
I'm liking how the game can progress even if you fail on certain matches. I just wish that included some of the more mechanically challenging (i.e., ladder match! Ladder matches are my least favorite match type; I hate the mechanics of ladder matches in these games, and have ever since the PS2 days; every iteration of the mechanic is worse than the one before it) matches, as well.
Set design is pretty good. Reilly Flash's academy looks like you'd expect a seedy, run-down wrestling gym to look, the indie shows you're in look and feel like indie shows, it doesn't feel like you're battling the same opponents every week (loved Cole Quinn, but after a while it seemed like Buzz and Cole were the only guys in all of BCW, last year), etc. I kind of wish they'd given Josie and El Mago Jr. speaking lines, because their e-mails are fun and show a bit of personality.
All that said, I feel the framing device (the whole story being told entirely in a series of flashbacks) wasn't necessary in the way it was done. If I ONLY focused on the flashbacks, both Red and Tre matured as the story went on, but Tre (at least) seems as if he never grew up thanks to the way he's handled in the "future" scenes, and the way Red treats everyone, including "the List," did the same for her. I would like a BIT more flexibility in the storylines, as well -- for example, I wanted Tre to be able to reconcile with his adoptive parents (or at least agree to see them, even if they wanted them to still be estranged later for storyline purposes) during the hometown match. I like that they separated attribute points and skill points in the progression trees, but the way they set it up I became so focused on reaching spots where I could spend my skill points that I was paying little or no attention to my attribute points. And, dear god, I'd rather have Barron Blade again than whatever Ribbie was supposed to be.
I'm not done with the story, yet -- I haven't reached the "bionic arm" bit mentioned above -- but overall I'm really enjoying this year's MyCareer mode so far. Until they fix some of the more game breaking bugs\patch in the missing elements (they've promised create-a-championship, and for those of us who are sticking with it through all these bugs they better deliver!), it's the best thing the game has going for it.
so I played trough the MyPlayer(s) Career Mode (completed after 25 Hours).
Pros:
- WWE of course (original Wrestlers, Voiceovers, Assets)
- corny but yet fun to play storyline with some cool twists
- good visual presentation in some scenarios.
- enjoyable from start to finish
- new control layout is fine. I like the seperate buttons for ring in/out and picking up objects.
- best Audio in a WWE 2K game thus far (audience chants, overall mix)
- very cool and good looking lightning effects and shadows
Cons:
- some scripted matches especially with foreign objects involved are just not fun to play
- card packs with random loot inside for outfits/moves and such. that's just irritating and should be done otherwise.
- very poor visual presentation in some scenarios (animations in dialogue, some backrounds)
- heavily scripted A.I. in some matches with some brain failure moments
- way to easy (played on "Legend").
- Skill Tree is a mess, no way to "plan out" a build because skills are hidden below plates until you get close by investing points.
so Career Mode is "good" but not 2019 "good" like in other AAA sports games out there.
Misc:
- Hair physics are absent somehow. at least not working as intended.
- the "usual" glitches with clothing / championships / ropes and some moves but nothing
game breaking so far (never encountered really bad stuff like shown across the web from the console versions).
- one nasty bug in the early going of the career when my female and male wrestlers are trying to match the same size after a cutscene/dialogue. so my 7 feet tall "Giant" appeared as "shorty". worked after reloading the game but still...it happened multiple times.
- the targeting is bad, I mean really bad especially with objects involved. never missed that many times in a WWE game and I played a good amount of them.
- A.I. sometimes stop attacking and just standing there doing nothing until I get close
there is more but I will just stop for now and move on to the other game modes bevore writing a full review later on. can't cover/judge over every single aspect of the game without actually playing all of it.
