it only happens with my steam controller can some one tell me how to fix this.
The advice to change steam controller settings changed nothing for me
That is incredibly frustrating to hear! Are the developers trolling us??
I've had similar issues with a few other games like Madden, and it's not exclusive to steam. Even on origin. So I dont think everyone's problem is the same. I dont think mine is a steam problem at all.
And the issue is generally resolved by plugging your controller in via USB-C. Even after updating the controller, to my knowledge, these are known issues that have yet to be fixed and yet to be announced to be fixed. If I'm wrong about that I'd be happy to be corrected with a proper fix.
I am having the exact same problem with an off brand Xbox 360 controller I bought from Amazon. I looks like an Xbox 360 controller, and shows up in my device manager as an Xbox 360 controller, but Steam still thinks it's a PS4 controller. It still works in games, but the menu in big picture mode only shows PS4 buttons which is super annoying. If you are able to discover a fix to get Steam to recognize a controller as an Xbox 360 controller, let me know!
