Prototype

Prototype

It crashes as soon as i select a a save to play
I have never played this game before so I started a new game and it would just crash after a couple seconds of loading i tried to open it again i turned my laptop off and off again I have good enough specs to play it.
Any suggestions on what I should do?

The main issue is that this game cannot be run with steam using more than 4 cores. You'll need to do some tweaking for steam.exe in the task manager to fix that. Then revert the change whenever you're done playing Prototype 1.

how do you do that?

As Xanaguy mentioned, this game doesn't run with more than 4 cores. I managed to make it run by limiting Steam's access to cores. To do so, go to Task Manager > 'Details' tab > look for 'steam.exe' in the list > right-click on it > select 'Set affinity' > deselect all processors > select only the first 4 processors (0, 1, 2, 3) > OK. The game should run afterwards. Remember to reset to all processors when you're done playing Prototype and you wanna play something else.
Thank you this helped

Heads up about the frame rate, If you experience low FPS (The launch screens going by super slow being the first sign of low FPS) I recommend disabling the first HID-compliant consumer control device. Type in "Device Manager" and under "Human Interface Devices you'll find HID-compliant consumer control device, for myself i have two showing up. Disable the first one by right clicking on the first HID control device and pick disable device.

For myself this fixed the frame rate problems no idea if some people may need to turn off more than one HID but for me this did the job. Remember to turn the HID Control Device back on when you finish playing the game same goes with your other cores i just leave the Task Manager and Device Manager open in case I forget.

I don't know what to do anymore, mine opens in a gigantic slowness where it's impossible to play I've followed all the steps above and it's still the same

Have you already tried what Jedi Mandalore suggested? As far as I read, slowness can be solved (for some reason) by disabling those HID-compliant consumer control devices.

This might also help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhvU245tMW0

Mmm, that is weird... So, if I understood correctly, none of the fixes mentioned earlier worked? Have you tried to do both of them at the same time (limit cores and disable HIDs)?

And if you have a ryzen cpu just set it to cpu 0 and cpu 1

I just had to disable my first HiD deivce and do the cpu cores, and did the fixes within the files for mine to run normally

Mine is Ryzen 5700G. It worked after selecting only the first four cores for steam.exe.
Thanks for your help.
