Okay, I managed to get Prototype 2 running 4K@60, perfect, no stutter. I used the tool DXWnd to force the game into a full-screen window.

Prototype 1 demands more tinkering. So far, I have it running in 720@60 with NO STUTTER (no HID disable needed with DXWnd). YES! It can be done. I need to force up the resolution now. I'll let you know when I get it.

This is what I've been reading: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Prototype#Low_frame_rate

EDIT: It works. Use that page's resolution fix plus DXWnd = 4K@60. Done.

No. You can go up to 4K@60 from 30 fps by installing the res patch and disabling HID, but the constant frame stutter is still present and bad enough to warrant simply not playing. Seems like it's in the engine or something. It happens at all resolutions. Shame. It was the coolest game when it came out, I thought.

It's worth $5, imo. The stutter is there and there's nothing to be done about it, but between the HID FPS fix and widescreen patch, it hold 60fps for the most part when it matters. Put 4 hours into it last night and I expect to put another 20+ in the coming days.

You are welcome! Someone should sticky that. I never knew about pcgamewiki until now. They had all the answers all along.
