Nobody is sure there even will be one, so there is not released date, but let's hope Activision would take an interest in this game series again!

The company who made the games shut down. Activision published but radical entertainment shut down the studio.

Radical Entertainment's been shut down and the franchise is dead. I seriously doubt a [PROTOTYPE 3] will ever happen.

Another game production studio is working on a reboot and already confirmed another Prototype game.

Doubt.
Activison has the IP for Prototype but they aren't making a third game because the game didn't had a "broad audiance".

this topic is very old no idea why it has been revived but like others said radical shut down and activision has the ip.great concept ,fun gameplay but activision mostly cares about money nowadays.also i kind of hated 2.it had better graphics and a more detailed story but in terms of gameplay one was more diverse and paid more attention to small details.also i hated what they did to alex.that turn around was total nonsense ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥(featured in a comic book)

there will be protoype 3 acording to google:According to some resources, prototype 3 date release will be in 2021. Insiders say that the reason for the third part's release postponement is several launches of the development process from the very start.

No official information, the articles you are reading are just speculation. There is no official information about Prototype 3.

On 28 June 2012, due to the financial failure of Prototype 2, Radical Entertainment suffered a "significant reduction" in staff, and would from then on focus solely on supporting other Activision studios, while ceasing development on their own projects.

Its been more than 3 years since this post. I doubt we will ever see another prototype project see the light of day. As this project is dead as of now. Even the part 2 of the series is unavailable in some countries.
