How the hell am I supposed to launch this game???

This is driving me insane... how can a release on Steam be so hard and complicated to launch? Shouldn't it be straight forward considering it's a damn standalone modded version of Oblivion? I've never had such problems with Enderal but this game just won't launch. I followed all the instructions on other discussions and it still gives me a black screen of 3 seconds before returning to Desktop, what the heck am I supposed to do?

Please someone help... the switcher says Nehrim is active and lets me launch it normally but then crashes after a black screen. I tried also to delete Oblivion.ini and oblivion_default.ini and it seemed to launch normal oblivion then instead of Nehrim. Any advice?

The current installation is the easiest possible solution. Oblivion does not support custom folders, like Skyrim does, this makes stuff very complicated. Anyway, try to disable Alt+Tab fix and ENBoost via the Launcher.

Still nothing... I read in another post it could be because I have it installed in Program Files and that causes troubles with Nehrim. Is that the issue here? Because I cannot think of anything else... everything looks to be properly installed, I don't know...

Update: if I launch Oblivion normally, the mod starts, but it's weird because it looks like it's fused with Oblivion itself, like the main menu. But if I do new game then Nehrim starts normally with a lot of graphical bugs.

This is another limitation of the Steam Oblivion implementation we could not fix. Installing everything onto the drive Steam is installed helps with most common bugs and error messages.

It starts now!! I don't know why, how or when, but now it seems to be working fine! There is just another issue tho... I see yellow "boxes" around me, like some sort of graphical glitch... do you know what's causing this by any chance?

Yellow boxes with an exclamation mark in them?
That's a missing texture.
So it seems there was some sort of issue upon installation. :(

Delete your Oblivion.ini file and start the game via the Nehrim Launcher, which will generate the correct ini file. But I recommend to install everything onto the same drive Steam is installed.

Everything is installed into the same drive, but unfortunately it seems to be missing some textures somehow... I'll try to re-install Nehrim to see if this fixes the issue

Anyway for whoever will have the same problem as me, just launch Oblivion once you've switched to Nehrim while keeping the Nehrim Launcher opened so you can get the achievements

open steam app and verify game files, likely a lot of them are missing

I fixed it by disabling Steam Overlay!
