A question about the difficulty.
I read about this game after beating the original and when I noticed 2 years of inactivity I kind of lost hope, but now this game is finally coming to steam!

The star levels were my favorite part of Snakebird, but I'm not expecting something like that in Primer. I read that this game is targeted more at a casual audience, so it's most likely going to be easier than Snakebird, The question is, how much easier is it going to be relative to the original? Is it going to provide a challenge to someone who already completed the previous game?

Thanks!

Hi, if you´ve beaten all of Snakebird, Primer is probably going to be too easy for you.
It´s more for people who either bounced off snakebird and need a running start at it, or who wouldn´t play Snakebird because it´s much too difficult, as it was targeting the most hardcore of puzzlegamers.

There are new star levels in Primer, however they aren´t as brutal as those in the original game.

Aww, I hoped there would at least be a few levels that were close to the original's difficulty, but that's fine, this should introduce more people to this gem. More Snakebird is always good!

I wish you the best of luck. :redsnakebird:

I've started with Snakebird Primer, because the game has a reputation for brutal difficulty and I had been thoroughly humbled by Baba is You. I'm currently at 173 beaten levels in that game, after about 80 hours (admittedly, some of that was just listening to the soundtrack).

The later levels in Snakebird Primer looked intimidating, some outright impossible. But in the end I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and finished it in two evenings (5.3h). I was at 5/6 star levels after the first day and the desert levels in particular were head-scratching.

Snakebird Primer reminds me of Fish Fillets NG, except mechanics are much more elegant and intuitive. I love how they managed to put a new spin on the ancient Snake game with gravity. The gameplay elements like teleporters, pushable blocks, spikes are carefully chosen and really enrich the experience. I've seen them - except the connected pusheble blocks - in countless other games yet somehow here they feel new.

Any chance for more challenging Snakebird game in the future? The first one was tough on some places but I solved all puzzles after some time without hints. It was challenging experience, but also so satisfying. I bought Snakebird Prime just to support developer, but I still keep finger crossed for Snakebird 2 or even DLC with harder levels.

There are some more snakebird levels around, but not made by the original devs. You can find them in this article: https://joelthefox.github.io/2019-08-21-Snake-Puzzle-Games/
Of course, a Snakebird Primer Expert would be great!
