Progress reset?

So I finally found the server switch option, thought I had lost all my progress from a few years ago. Now I'm in my account (2700 hours Steam playtime) but I have lost all my map progress, researches, Tavern progress, hero and guardian evolution and equipment, etc etc. Why is this? Is there any way to restore them?

Am i correct that you played the game and then stopped playing and returned after ~2+ years?
Because if so, i'm really sorry but your have lost your save.

The game has changed a lot in the last 2 years, it has been greatly expanded, reworked, and updated, many really great new things have been added. During this process the game was also transferred from client to serverside. Nearly all aspects of the game are affected by this. Especially the transfer from clientside => serverside has changed things. almost all aspects of the game are now serverside.
I'm really sorry but all those who haven't logged in for more than 1,5 - 2 years have lost their saves.

At some point we took the decision instead of moving to a new title to heavily upgrade the game with new content and make it a multiplayer game that everything is handled server side. At that point we had to migrate massive amounts of data from each player to our servers. During that process there was errors that we solved during the process. That's correct. I see. At least not everything was lost then, I guess. Seems like many of the new achievements are not retroactive anyway, so I have a little something to start from. Thanks for the reply. Would have been nice to know that I had a limited window to get hundreds of hours of work back though.
